New Beer Blog Atwater Brewery Black & Cran Bourbon Barrel Cranberry Impartial Stout

In this beer blog, we are going to get into another beer from Atwater Brewery.  It is Black & Cran Stout.  If you had read my earlier beer blog posts on their beers, you know the history of this Detroit base craft brewery.  If you have not, please, read them to get to know this Michigan craft brewery.  Let us get into this stout.

It has a jet black color with a tan color head at first. It disappears over time. The aroma has a chocolate to slight cranberry notes. There is a nice earthly oak notes. The taste has a chocolate cover cranberry notes at first, however, it finishes with a heavy cranberry aftertaste. I do pick up a slight oak note. There is not much in this beer from barrel in taste profile. This is a sipping beer.

Ending, I know that I told everyone out there that I was not going to pick up anymore of their beers.  I am holding to true to to that unless they have a special and very limited beer release.   This is why I picked up this brew.  I like Imperial Stouts.   I am not a huge fan of cranberries but I can live with them.  First thing first, I wished this craft brewery would have taken a little time making a great Russian Imperial Stout.  The base of this beer is that that beer style.  I have to say it is below average version.  It makes this beer overall pretty below average. I am not a fan and not worth the price.  If you see it, try to buy a single bottle.  I do not think you will be happy after buying a six-pack.  Go get some!  Drink it!  Enjoy it!  Metal it!  \m/

New Beer Blog Atwater Bloktoberfest

In this fall beer blog, we are going to get into another brew from Atwater Brewery.  It is their Bloktoberfest, which is their Oktoberfest.  If you read my earlier beer blog posts on their beers, you know the history of this Detroit base craft brewery.  If you have not, please, read them to get to know this Michigan craft brewery.  Let us get into this fall beer.

It has a clear amber color without a constant head. The smell has a sweet malty notes. The taste has a sweet burn malty notes with a slight caramel that is burned. The aftertaste has a dry burned notes.  It is drinkable beer.

Ending, I know many of you out there from my readers here and friends of mine.  They all know that I am not a fan of this craft brewery.  I just feel that they could be make better beers.  They have no pressure right now to check anything.  Michigan craft beer market is still growing along with their drinkers.  Once it is hits the peak.  I believe they will need to change some things up at that time.  I just wished they made better beer, however, this beer is pretty good.  It is better than most of their beers.  I recommend this beer.  Go get some!  Drink it!  Enjoy it!  Metal it!  \m/

New Beer Blog Atwater Winterbock (2014)

In this winter beer blog, we are going to get into another brew from Atwater Brewery.  I really do not know why I picked up their Winterbock.  If you read my earlier beer blog posts on their beers, you know the history of this Detroit craft brewery.  If you have not, please, read them to get to know this Michigan craft brewery.  Let us get into this brew.

It has a clear dark copper color with an off white color head.  The smell has a sweet malty notes. The taste is a sweet malty notes. The aftertaste is a sweet dry malty finish. It is kind of drinkable beer.

Closing, I pretty much done with this brewery.  I do not know why I keep coming back to this craft brewery.  I always find myself buying or ordering one of their beers.  I am officially done.  This beer is full of alcohol.  It is a poor and bad version of a German bock.  They did a really bad job on this brew.  I just feel their is no balance.  It is like they dumped a ton of sugar to jack up the alcohol.  This beer is missing creative thought and passion towards this beer style and brewing beer.  I am not really a fan.  I do not recommend you trying this beer.  Do NOT go there!  Drink it!  Enjoy it!  Metal it!  \m/

New Beer Blog Atwater Brewery In The Park

In this beer blog, we are going to talk about my visit at Atwater Brewery In The Park.  I did not take tasting notes but I will talk about the food and kind of what I had to drink.  I also will talk about my experience there.  If you have read my earlier beer blog posts about their beers, you know the history of this Detroit craft brewery.  If you have not, please, read them to get to know this craft brewery.  Let us get into this dining and drinking experience.

Ending, I know there is other craft breweries using churches as their brewery.  I know there is one in Pennsylvania. I have never been there.  I would love to go.  I will be the first to say that I am not a fan of this brewery but I wanted to check out this new brewpub in the Grosse Pointe, Michigan.  I might not like the beer from the brewery but I like going to brewpubs.  Sometimes, it might be the traveling that might be have an effect on the beer.  The staff is super nice and helpful.  The inside and outside area is very welcoming to their guests.  They have two beer menus.  One is beers that are brewed there and the other list is brewed at their main brewpub.  I had two beers exclusive to the brewpub there.  I had their Poorboy, which was a smoked porter, and Black IPA.  I love these two beers and I was pretty impressive.  I believe the main brewmasters need to look at some of these beers being made at this  brewpub.  The other two were Detroit Pale Ale and Bloktoberfest.  I kind of like Bloktobeerfest.  It is true to the beer style but I felt it was a little light for the style.  Pale ale, I just felt it was a little weak on the hop and not strong malty backbone.  I had two more that were not on any of these photos.  I had GP IPA and Scherthing Cream Ale.  These beers are part of the exclusive to Grosse Pointe brewery.  The food came out.  It was a German theme food menu.  I love apps we order.  It was a basket of Pretzels.  They were awesome.  There were different sizes with cheese and honey mustard, which were homemade there.  There is a spicy mustard that was also made there.  The main course was Turkey Burger with fries.  I loved it.  It was cooked just right and I love the spices.   Overall, I had a great time and I will be back.  I would love to try all the exclusive beers brewed there.  I will be upfront and honest.   I am not a fan of their everyday beers.  There beers brewed there need to be packaged. New Beer Blog Atwater Brewery Blueberry Cobbler Ale

In this beer blog, we are going to get into another beer and I am thinking the last one from Atwater Brewery.  If you read my earlier beer blog posts, you know the history of this Detroit craft brewery.  If you have not, please, read them to get to know this brewery.  Let us get into this fruit beer.

It has a black color with an off white color head.  The aroma has a heavy blueberry notes.  The taste has a heavy blueberry notes but not really balance beer.  The aftertaste has a dry bitter finish but not from the hops.  It is kind of drinkable.

Nothing says autumn like this refreshing ale brewed using local blueberries from our home State of Michigan.  It’s beer just like Grandma would make, if Grandma was a brewmaster.  Prost!

In the end, I do not know why I keep doing this to myself.  This craft brewery is not really good and they only really put out one good beer.  The one good beer is just an average beer.  I am talking about Java Vanilla Porter.  Their Dirty Blonde could be in the talk of a good beer or not.  The point that I am getting at is this craft brewery makes some pretty bad beers.  They are not constant all around their beers.  Their IPA’s, I refuse to drink even if they are the only craft beer in the bar.  I was thinking maybe their fruit beers might be good.  I was completely wrong.  I mean really wrong.  This blueberry ale is not balance at all.  It is not really good.  It is missing something.  I can not put my figure on it.  Drink it!  Enjoy it! New Beer Blog Atwater Beer Hop A Peel Ale

In this beer blog, we are going to sample Hop A Peel Ale from Atwater Brewery.  If you read my earlier beer blog posts, you know the history of this Detroit Craft Brewery.  If you have not read those posts, please, read them to get to know this brewery along the Detroit River.  Let us get into this American IPA.

This American IPA has a cloudy amber color with a constant white head on this ale.  The aroma has a citrus to orange notes.  The tasting profile has a dry hoppy to bitter notes.  The aftertaste is very dry and bitter that hangs out too long for my liking.  It should be drinkable but to me it is sipping.

In closing, I have try and retry most of their beers.  I have to say overall that I really disappointed.  I love their Java Vanilla Porter.  Their version of the classic beer style, which is India Pale Ale is pretty bad and disappointed.   I do not know why I thought this American IPA would be any different.  The malty backbone is very weak just like their Grand Circus IPA.  The taste has nothing to what the name of beer and the description from bottle and website. The aroma does but the taste is like their Grand Circus IPA.  It is water hop taste with alcohol.  It is not a good beer. Please, let me know what you think of this beer.  Go get some!  Drink it!  Enjoy it!  Metal it!  \m/

New Beer Blog Atwater Brewery Grand Circus IPA

In this beer blog, we are going to get into Grand Circus IPA from Atwater Brewery.  Atwater Brewery was founded in 1997 by the Detroit River.  City of Detroit has a rich history like most major cities in the United States in brewing.  There brew house was imported in from Germany.  They brew several different beer styles.  Let us get into the beer.

It has a clear dark golden with constant small bubbles and a constant white head on this IPA.  The smell is earthy with some piney notes.  The taste of this medium body is earthy and piney notes with a dry hop aftertaste.  It is pretty drinkable beer.

Closing, Atwater Brewery is a few breweries located right in the City of Detroit.  I give them a ton of credit for where they are located in the city.  I have to say this about this brew and brewery.  They did a semi good job to bad job on this brew.  I am a huge hop head and I was pretty disappointed on this IPA.  I just feel there is not enough malty backbone.  I am not a fan of the hops they are using in it. I love their packaging and their Java Vanilla Porter.  I have to say just because I do not like this brew.  It does not mean you will not like this beer.  I am going to stop by their brewpub here soon since moving back to Michigan.  Please, go try this beer and let me know what you think of it.  Go get some!  Drink it!  Enjoy it!  Metal it!  \m/
