New Beer Blog New Belgium Brewery Fat Tire And Friends Avery Brewing Fat Wild Ale

image

In this special beer blog, we are going to get another beer from New Belgium Brewery Fat Tire and Friends.  It is their Avery Brewing Fat Wild Ale.  If you read my earlier beer blog posts on their beers, you know the history of these western craft breweries.  If you have not, please, read them to get to know both of these craft breweries.  Let us get into this wild ale.

It has a clear amber color with a white constant head. The aroma has a tropical fruit like to pineapple notes. The taste has a nice caramel to pineapple notes with a fruit like aftertaste. It is pretty drinkable.

Here is a description from their website (www.newbelgium.com):

Go wild for Fat. Thanks to Boulder’s finest for this unabashedly tropic take on Fat Tire. Avery took a healthy dose of Brettanomyces Bruxellensis Drie to create a Fat Tire spin with a sturdy malt backbone, fruity hop aroma and a tropical pineapple layer. Heed the call of the wild Fat Tire.

In the end, I am not surprise to see a few sour and wild ales in this sampler pack.  New Belgium might be known for their Fat Tire Amber Ale but they are really known for their  sour and wild ales.  I like this one more than the one from Hopworks. Both are great beers. So far there are some good beers.  New Belgium Brewery did a great job picking the other craft breweries to work with and put out some solid beers.  I highly recommend this beer.  Go get some!  Drink it!  Enjoy it!  Metal it!  \m/

Cheers!

New Beer Blog New Belgium Fat Tire And Friends Allagash Brewing Fat Funk Ale

image

In this special beer blog, we are going to get into another beer from New Belgium Brewery Fat Tire and Friends sampler pack.  It is their Allagash Brewing Fat Funk Ale.  If you read my earlier beer blog posts on both of their beers, you know the history of East Coast and West Coast craft breweries.  If you have not, please, read them to get to know these craft breweries.  Let us get into this sour ale

It has a slightly cloudy light amber color with a white constant head. The smell has a heavy banana to slight pear notes. The taste has a nice pear but heavy banana notes with fruit but light bitter aftertaste. It is pretty drinkable like Fat Tire.

Here is a description from their website (www.newbelgium.com):

Who wants the funk? Fat Tire wants the funk. Our New England friends at Allagash brought it, taking Fat Tire back to its Belgian roots with a De Dolle house Belgian yeast strain that adds classic pear, banana and spice to Fat Tire’s malty goodness. They then bottle-conditioned the beer with Brettanomyces Allagagensis for a spicy finish. Get your funk on.

Closing, I really enjoyed going through this sampler packs.  I am forced to try some beer styles that I would never try.  I am not saying it about this beer.  I enjoyed this beer from both of these breweries and they are perfect to work together.  I enjoyed tart to sour ales.  I was pretty excited to get into this brew.  I love banana notes but not a huge fan of the aftertaste.  It is a solid beer.  Both craft breweries have did a great job on this brew.  I highly recommend this beer.  Go get some!  Drink it!  Enjoy it!  Metal it!  \m/

Cheers!

New Beer Blog New Belgium Fat Tire And Friends Hopworks Urban Brewery Fat Sour Apple Ale

image

In this special beer blog, we are going to get into another beer from the Fat Tire and Friends sampler pack from New Belgium and Hopworks Urban Brewery.  It is their Fat Sour Apple Ale.  I know you know the history of New Belgium Brewery.  I cannot find any history for Hopworks Urban Brewery.  I know they are from Portland, Oregon.  Let us get into this ale.

It has a clear golden color with white constant head. The aroma has a sour apple notes but faded. The taste has a like Sour Patch Kids Sour Apple. It is candy like notes. The aftertaste has a slight sour apple finish. It is pretty drinkable beer.

Here is a description from their website (www.newbelgium.com):

For our new Fat Tire & Friends Collabeeration Pack, we teamed up with Hopworks Urban Brewery (HUB) from Portland, Ore.

Our heroes at HUB pedaled Fat Tire straight to the apple orchard. This slightly sour homage starts out with a snap of tartness, courtesy of Lactobacillus and apple juice, then gets balanced with Fat Tire-inspired malty sweetness and a slight herbal bitterness. Nice ride, HUB!

Closing, I was not sure how this sampler pack will would go over.  This is by far my favorite one in this pack.  I am not taking anything away from the rest of the beers.  I am not a huge apple fan, however, I love the mix of the sour and apple in this brew.  It has enough sour and sweet and plus a drinkable ale.  I highly recommend this beer.  Go get some!  Drink it!  Enjoy it!  Metal it!  \m/

Cheers!

New Beer Blog New Belgium Fat Tire And Friends Fat Tire Amber Ale

image

In this special beer blog, we are going to sample a beer from New Belgium’s Fat Tire And Friends.  It is their own Fat Tire Amber Ale.  If you read my earlier beer post on their beers, you know the history of this craft brewery.  If you have not, please, read them to get to know this Colorado base craft brewery.  Let us get into this amber ale.

It has a clear amber color with a white constant head. The aroma has a sweet caramel to biscuit notes. The taste has a sweet caramel, malty, and biscuit notes. The aftertaste has a sweet malty to biscuit finish. It is extremely drinkable.

Here is a description from their website (www.newbelgium.com):

Named in honor of our co-founder’s bike trip through Europe, FAT TIRE AMBER ALE marks a turning point in the young electrical engineer’s home brewing. Belgian beers use a far broader palette of ingredients (fruits, spices, esoteric yeast strains) than German or English styles. Together with co-founder Kim Jordan, they traveled around sampling their homebrews to the public. Fat Tire won fans with its sense of balance: toasty, biscuit-like malt flavors coasting in equilibrium with hoppy freshness. Fat Tire: Pairs well with people.

Closing, this is a classic brew and the one that put this craft brewery on the map.  It also is the base for the following five beers in this sampler pack.  Each beer will be featured on this blog.  I am not a fan but a solid beer. I am not a big fan of the beer style of red and amber ales.  I will try them now and then.  I will try all the new ones that I never had.   I know beer drinkers will like this beer.  Believe me, I have saw it when they launched in the Chicago market.  This beer is what everyone expects out of Amber Ale that was inspired by Belgium roots.  I highly recommend this beer.  Go get some!  Drink it!  Enjoy it!  Metal it!  \m/

Cheers!

In the end, this brewery gets me their artwork on their package.  I am a huge dog lover.  This is why this beer is being posted on this blog.  I am not a huge fan of fruit beers but I will try them now and then.  There is a nice raspberry notes in the aroma and tasting profile.  I am not a fan but it is a pretty good beer.  I recommend this beer if you are a fan of fruit beers.  This will be in your wheel house.  Go get some!  Drink it!  Enjoy it!  Metal it!  \m/

New Beer Blog Stroh’s Bohemian Style Pilsner

In this beer blog, we are going to talk about the return to Stroh’s Beer to the City of Detroit.  I will get into a little history.  Stroh’s brewery, which was known as Lion’s Head Brewry, started in 1850.  The first beer that was introduced was a Bohemian-Style Pilsner.  It is crazy think they are repeating history with this once third largest United States Brewery.  When Bernhard passed away, the son took over and renamed the brewery B Stroh’s Brewing Company.  In 1902, the company removed the B and called themselves what they are known as now, which is Stroh’s Brewing Company. When Prohibition hit, they like other breweries they had to changed their business model.  They made near beer but they made Stroh’s Ice Cream.  It is still being made to this day.  It is not being made in Detroit but their distribution center is still in the city.  In 1982, Stroh’s brought a huge part of Schlitz’s Company.  This put this brewery number three in the United States.  This is where everyone points to the end of Stroh’s.  Stroh’s in 1985 closed their 135 year old brewery.  It was knocked down in 1986.  Stroh’s sold to Pabst in 1999.  Stroh’s Lager with the blue can was new designed in 1987.  Let us talk about the Pilsner.

The Pilsner has a clear golden color with white constant head that will lace on your glass.  The aroma has a nice floral notes.  The taste has a nice balance to make it extremely drinkable beer.  There is some nice sweetest from the malt but a nice hop bitter snap.  This Pilsner is a little bit more bitter than your American Lager.  I am too young to remember Stroh’s nor try it back in the day.  I have been told that it has the Stroh’s snap finish.  It is extremely drinkable beer.

Here is their website and twitter addresses:

Website:  www.strohsbeer.com

Twitter: @strohs_beer

Closing, the excitement has spread wild.  People’s faces has proud of something that was ours is back.  It is crazy to think that Stroh’s beat out auto motor industry.   It is also crazy that the brewery started with the Pilsner and it will start Stroh’s back up and running in Detroit.  It is really great liquid and I believe that it will stay around after the hype.  It is a beer that will welcome you with its appearance and aroma.  It will have you coming back with the tasting notes and aftertaste.  I highly recommend this beer.  Go get some!  Drink it!  Enjoy it!  Metal it!  \m/

Welcome Home Stroh’s!

Cheers!

New Beer Blog Boulevard Brewing Heavy Lifting IPA

image

In this beer blog, we are going to get into another beer, which is called heavy Lifting IPA, from Boulevard Brewing.  If you read my earlier beer blog posts on their beers, you know history of this craft brewery.  If you have not, please, read  them to get to know Kansas base craft brewery.  Let us get into this IPA.

It has a clear golden color with a white constant head. The aroma has a citrus notes. The taste has a citrus to piney notes with a dry piney hop bitter aftertaste. It is kind of drinkable.

Here is a description from their website (www.boulevard.com):

Heavy Lifting I.P.A.

  • Style: American India Pale Ale
  • Availability: Year-round Cans
  • Locations: Try our Beer Finder

Heavy Lifting is our newest year-round beer based on our popular Tasting Room beer Mid-Coast IPA. Mid-Coast became a favorite among hopheads for its big, bold hop presence. Heavy Lifting takes that legacy further in fine style, exploding with flavor and a huge helping of five remarkably zesty and piney hops (Centennial, Citra, Amarillo, Topaz and Cascade).

Here is their website and twitter addresses:

Website:  www.boulevard.com

Twitter:  @boulevard_beer

Closing, this craft brewery has hit two home-runs with both IPA’s.  I am talking about The Calling and this one, which is called Heavy Lifting IPA.  This is the first everyday beer that I love from Boulevard Brewing.  There is some nice citrus notes and great selection of hops.  I am loving Amarillo and Citra hops.  I love it. I will be getting more.  I highly recommend this beer.  Go get some!  Drink it!  Enjoy it!  Metal it!  \m/

Cheers!

New Beer Blog Boulevard Brewing Calling IPA

image

In this beer blog, we are going to get into another beer from Boulevard Brewing.  It is their Calling IPA.  If you read my earlier beer blog posts on their beers, you know the history of this Kansas base craft brewery.  If you have not, please, read them to get to know this craft brewery.  Let us get into this IPA.

It has a cloudy golden color with a white constant color head. The aroma has a nice heavy citrus notes.  The taste has a citrus to tropical fruit notes with a hint of grapefruit notes. The aftertaste has a citrus to hop bitter notes. It is pretty drinkable beer.

Here is their website and Twitter addresses:

Website:  www.boulevard.com

Twitter:  @boulevard_beer

Closing, I am not a huge fan of Boulevard Brewing.  I do enjoy their high-end brews that are in four pack and 750ml bottles.  There is some nice aroma notes.  I love the tropical fruit notes in the tasting profile.  I love this beer. I do believe this beer does not hold up well to age.  Age is what kills IPA’s.  This is a great beer and they did a great job.  I do not see it on their website and I hope they are still making this brew.  I highly highly recommend this beer.  Go get some!  Drink it!  Enjoy it!  Metal it!  \m/

Cheers!

New Beer Blog Sierra Nevada Beer Camp (2016) West Latitude Session Rye

image

In this special beer camp blog, we are going to get into the last beer from Sierra Nevada’s  Beer Camp series.  It is called West Latitude Session Rye Ale.  If you read my earlier beer blog posts on their beers, you know the history of this California base craft  brewery.  If you have not, please, read them to get to know this craft brewery.  Let us get into this Rye Ale.

It has a clear ruby color with a white constant color head. The aroma has a sweet malty to rye notes.  The taste has a smooth sweet malt to rye notes with rye aftertaste. It is extremely drinkable beer.

Here is a description from their website (www.beercamp.sierranevada.com):

WEST LATITUDE

Session Rye with Hibiscus

West Latitude combines our Californian Left Coast love of fruity hops with a touch of Hawaiian “aloha” from the addition of hibiscus flowers, all anchored by robust malts and spicy rye. This session beer is light in body but looms large, like the long shadows of a westward setting sun.

Here is their website and twitter addresses:

Website:  www.beercamp.sierranevada.com

Twitter:  @sierranevada

In the end, Rye in beer needs to be done right for me.  I know how that sounds.  I love Rye ales.  I did not like this one for some odd reason.  It is a solid beer. I know others will like this brew.  It might be the malt grain that they used in this brew.  I am upset with myself because this brew was made by three of my favorite west coast craft breweries.  I cannot like everything that they put out.  I would be lying to myself.  I highly recommend this beer.  I know you will like it.  Go get some!  Drink it!  Enjoy it!  Metal it!  \m/

Cheers!

New Beer Blog Sierra Nevada Beer Camp (2016) Moxee-Moron Imperial Session IPA

image

In this special beer camp blog, we are going to sample another beer from Sierra Nevada’s Beer Camp.  It is called Moxee-Moron Imperial Session IPA.  If you read my earlier beer blog posts on their beers, you know the history of this West Coast craft brewery.  If you have not, please, read them to get to know this California base craft brewery.  Let us get into this IPA.

It has a clear golden color with a white constant color head. The aroma has a heavy citrus to hints of tropical fruit notes. The taste has a heavy citrus notes with tropical fruit aftertaste. It is a drinkable beer.

Here is a description from their website (www.beercamp.sierranevada.com):

MOXEE-MORON

Imperial Session IPA

The city of Moxee, WA, is in the heart of the Yakima Valley hop growing region and this Imperial Session IPA—a style contradiction—honors the Pacific Northwest’s hop-bomb heritage. Moxee-Moron features hops in the mash, the kettle, the Hop Torpedo, and the fermenter for ultra-complex hop aromas and flavors in an ironically named package.

Here is their website and Twitter addresses:

Website: www.beercamp.sierranevada.com

Twitter:  @sierranevada

Ending,  I do not know about you but I am getting sick of these marketing gimmick on brews.  This Imperial Session IPA is really a IPA.  I realize that this beer is making fun of the Session IPA.  I did not like the hops that were picked on this beer.  It is mix of hops.  It is just like every IPA on the market.  I am a little disappointed as a Hophead.  I still recommend this beer since it is one off brew.  Go get some!  Drink it!  Metal it!  Enjoy it!  \m/

Cheers!
