In this blog, we are getting into the first horror movie of 2024. It is a Blumhouse production. This is same group that brought us classic like Purge series, lastest Halloween movies, Get Out, M3gan, etc.  It is directed by Bdyce McGuire that is famous for movies like Unfollowed, Soon You Will Be Gone, Every House Is Haunted, etc. This movie is the classic horror movie time of one hour and thirty-eight minutes long. Let us get into it.

About Movie

Forced into early retirement by a degenerative illness, former baseball player Ray Waller moves into a new house with his wife and two children. He hopes that the backyard swimming pool will be fun for the kids and provide physical therapy for himself. However, a dark secret from the home’s past soon unleashes a malevolent force that drags the family into the depths of inescapable terror.

Review Movie

The pool has several creepy events around it.  Thr movie starts out very slow and build up starts happening a quarter into it. As the story pushes deeper the viewer finds there is a backstory to the pool. There is a few nice twist in the story. The ending makes sense how tbe writer finished it. I just feel like there could have been a different ending. Overall, short story to the screenplay was well written for the movie. To start year 2024, this is a nice start.

In the deep part of the water, this is not my favorite horror movie. To be honest, I am glad I watched it.  I might not come back to rewatch it. It is nice to see an original writing for horror movie.  Let alone a movie in today’s Hollywood. There is too many reboots to remakes. That is one plus for this movie. If you are horror movie fan, I would say give it a watch. It is less than two hours. If you do not like it, you will not think it was a totally waste of your time.
