New Beer Blog Canton Brew Works McConaghey Belgian Black IPA

In this beer blog, we are going to get into another beer from my friends at Canton Brew Works.  It is their McConaghey Belgian Black IPA.  If you read my earlier beer blog posts on their beers, you know the history of this Michigan base craft brewery.  If you have not, please, read them to get to know this Midwest craft brewery.  Let us get into this black IPA.

It has a jet black color with a semi on white constant head. The aroma has a sweet chocolate to slight coffee notes. The taste has a chocolate to coffee notes with chocolate and a funky aftertaste. It is a smooth and drinkable IPA.

Closing, I need to make it up to this craft brewery more often.  I have been away for too long.  This craft brewery makes some really good beers.  Berry keeps on pushing the limits of his beers.  I love Belgian and Black IPA’s.  I saw this beer and I had to have it.  I love it. It is not as bitter like most Black IPA. It is a Belgian Black IPA.  This beer has everything that I love about beer.  This is a great beer and I highly highly recommend this beer.  Go get some!  Drink it!  Enjoy it!  Metal it!  \m/

New Beer Blog Mountain Town Brewing Peach Gruit Ale

In this beer blog, we are going to get into another beer from Mountain Town Brewing.  It is their Peach Gruit Ale.  If you read my earlier beer blog posts on their beers, you know the history of this Michigan craft brewery.  If you have not, please, read them to get to know this Midwest craft brewery.  Let us get into this fruit beer.

It has a heavy cloudy yellow color with a white head that disappears over time. The aroma has a metallic peach notes. The taste has a sweet peach to apricot notes with a wet peach aftertaste. It is drinkable beer.

In the end, I am not a huge fan of fruit beers.  I have never had this beer so it was on my bucket list.  It is a solid beer but I am not a fan. I can see fans of fruit beers loving this brew. This craft brewery has did a great job and being locally (Michigan), I know Michigan craft beer drinkers will drink this brew.  I recommend this beer.  Go get some!  Drink it!  Enjoy it!  Metal it!  \m/

New Beer Blog Stroh’s Bohemian Style Pilsner

In this beer blog, we are going to talk about the return to Stroh’s Beer to the City of Detroit.  I will get into a little history.  Stroh’s brewery, which was known as Lion’s Head Brewry, started in 1850.  The first beer that was introduced was a Bohemian-Style Pilsner.  It is crazy think they are repeating history with this once third largest United States Brewery.  When Bernhard passed away, the son took over and renamed the brewery B Stroh’s Brewing Company.  In 1902, the company removed the B and called themselves what they are known as now, which is Stroh’s Brewing Company. When Prohibition hit, they like other breweries they had to changed their business model.  They made near beer but they made Stroh’s Ice Cream.  It is still being made to this day.  It is not being made in Detroit but their distribution center is still in the city.  In 1982, Stroh’s brought a huge part of Schlitz’s Company.  This put this brewery number three in the United States.  This is where everyone points to the end of Stroh’s.  Stroh’s in 1985 closed their 135 year old brewery.  It was knocked down in 1986.  Stroh’s sold to Pabst in 1999.  Stroh’s Lager with the blue can was new designed in 1987.  Let us talk about the Pilsner.

The Pilsner has a clear golden color with white constant head that will lace on your glass.  The aroma has a nice floral notes.  The taste has a nice balance to make it extremely drinkable beer.  There is some nice sweetest from the malt but a nice hop bitter snap.  This Pilsner is a little bit more bitter than your American Lager.  I am too young to remember Stroh’s nor try it back in the day.  I have been told that it has the Stroh’s snap finish.  It is extremely drinkable beer.

Closing, the excitement has spread wild.  People’s faces has proud of something that was ours is back.  It is crazy to think that Stroh’s beat out auto motor industry.   It is also crazy that the brewery started with the Pilsner and it will start Stroh’s back up and running in Detroit.  It is really great liquid and I believe that it will stay around after the hype.  It is a beer that will welcome you with its appearance and aroma.  It will have you coming back with the tasting notes and aftertaste.  I highly recommend this beer.  Go get some!  Drink it!  Enjoy it!  Metal it!  \m/

New Beer Blog Jolly Pumpkin Oro De Calabaza Golden Ale

It has a cloudy golden color with a white constant head. The aroma has a floral to pepper like notes. The taste has a lemon to pepper like notes with a slight sour in taste profile and aftertaste. It is a nice sipping beer.

Closing, I am not a huge fan of Jolly Pumpkin Brewery.  It is mainly because of the price.  They are making their products here in Michigan.  I live in Michigan.  I get it that Sour Ale process is pretty costly.  I do like the pepper notes.  Jolly Pumpkin is known for their sour ales.  I have to say the sour notes are pretty fade.  I like it but not for the price.  I rather drink Duvel and it is worth the price.  I highly recommend this beer.  Go get some!  Drink it!  Enjoy it!  Metal it!  \m/

New Beer Blog Jolly Pumpkin Bam Noire Dark Farmhouse Ale

It has a clear dark reddish color with a white constant head. The aroma has a dark fruit to farm like notes. The taste has a lemon like notes that is a little tart. It has a tart to sour like aftertaste. It is kind of drinkable beer.

Ending, I am not a huge fan of Jolly Pumpkin.  In most cases, it is the cost of the beer that turns me off.  They are great ales.  I love the liquid.  Meijer had this beer on sale for half of the price.  I was sold.  It is different. I love Saison ales but not a fan of dark Saisons.  This one was really good beer.  They did a great job.  I recommend this beer.  Go get some!  Drink it!  Enjoy it!   Metal it!  \m/

New Beer Blog Founders Brewing Sumatra Mountain Brown Ale

In this beer blog, we are going to sample another beer from Founders Brewing.  It is their Sumatra Mountain Brown Ale.  If you read my earlier beer blog posts on their beers, you know the history of this Michigan base craft brewery.  If you have not, please, read them to get to know this Midwest craft brewery.  Let us get into this brown ale.

It has a cloudy dark brown color with a tan constant head. The smell has a heavy coffee notes. The taste profile of this brown ale has a smooth nutty to coffee notes with a smooth slight milky coffee notes aftertaste. It is drinkable and scary because it is a 9% ABV beer.

Closing, I was pretty speechless when trying this beer.  I was really impressed.  I felt like Founder’s Brewery was just staying in their way.  Not really doing anything new and different.  While new and upcoming craft breweries in the state were starting to take from them.  I am glad to see them doing new and different things but take their time putting it out.  There are other breweries that are living on their name and need to step up to the plate.  I am not going to say who they are.  This is a solid coffee brown ale.  This has to be my favorite or close to favorite coffee brown ale.  Great beer with a great price point in a four pack bottle.  I highly recommend this beer.  Go get some!  Drink it!  Enjoy it!  Metal it!  \m/

New Beer Blog Pigon Hill Brewing OCP Oatmeal Cream Pie

In this beer blog, we are going to sample a new beer and brewery, which is Pigon Hill Brewing.  It is their OCP Oatmeal Cream Pie.  There is not much of history on the web about this craft brewery.  I know they are from Muskegon, Michigan.  They are a newer craft brewery.  Let us get into stout.

It has a clear brown color with tan color head. The aroma has a slight oatmeal cookie notes. The taste has a sweet nutty malty notes with an oatmeal cookie aftertaste. It is pretty drinkable.

Closing, I have wanting to try this beer the first time I saw it on the shelf.  This is just about the only beer that I have saw from this brewery in the market.  As far as the beer, I see what they are trying to do with this beer.  I believe they did a great job on it.  It is a great beer just wish there was more in tasting part. There is nice tasting notes but I just wish there was more.  It is all in the aftertaste.  I believe like all craft breweries.  They are looking to improve this beer just like all their beers.  I am pretty excited to try it in the fall or winter season.  I recommend this beer when it is out again.  Go get some!  Drink it!  Enjoy it!  Metal it!  \m/

New Beer Blog Saugatuck Brewery Blueberry Maple Stout

It has a jet black color with a tan constant head. The aroma has a maple to blueberry notes. The taste has a slight chocolate to blueberry notes with a maple aftertaste. It is pretty drinkable beer.

In the end, I respect everything that this craft brewery.  I feel they are trying different things and improving other brews of theirs.  I will be honest.  I am not a huge fan of this brewery.  I just feel some of their everyday beers are not good or average.  Just like all craft brewery, they are trying to improve their base beers.  I love my stouts and porters.  I am willing to try newer beers.  This beer has some promise but it came out pretty average.  There are going to be craft beer drinkers that will enjoy this beer. Rochester Mills makes a better Blueberry stout.  I recommend you trying this brew in this blog at least once.  Go get some!  Drink it!  Enjoy it!  Metal it!  \m/

New Beer Blog Canton Brew Works Buffout Brown Ale

It has a slightly cloudy brown color without a head. The smell has a sweet malty to nutty notes. The taste has a sweet to dry malty with hints of nutty notes. The aftertaste has a dry nutty finish. It is a nice drinkable English style brown ale.

Closing, this young craft brewery is still and coming up with some great new beers.  It is hard to believe that this craft brewery has been around for two years.  There is some nice aroma and tasting notes in this beer.  I love it. I could drink this beer all day. New Beer Blog Tri-City Brewing Hefeweizen

It has a cloudy yellow color with a white constant head. The aroma has a nice banana notes. The taste has a nice refreshing to slight lemon with a heavy banana aftertaste. It is extremely drinkable beer.
