New Beer Blog Ballast Point Manta Ray Double IPA

In this beer blog, we are going to get into another beer from Ballast Point. It is their Double IPA, which is called Manta Ray. It has a clear golden color with a white constant head. The aroma has a tropical fruit to slight grapefruit notes. The taste has a nice juicy grapefruit to slight tropical notes with a dry bitter hop finish. It is almost like grapefruit notes. It is kind of drinkable for the beer style.

Closing, I am not a huge fan of Ballast Point. They make great beer but the price is too high. I will try all the new beers that hit my market. I love trying beers that I never had it. I saw this beer and it was a no brainier. The tasting notes are just what I have been looking for from this craft brewery. They hit a home run. I love it. I will be picking up some more. New Beer Blog Flying Dog The Gourd Standard Pumpkin IPA

In this fall beer blog, we are going to get into another beer from Flying Dog Brewery. It is their new fall seasonal, which is The Gourd Standard Pumpkin IPA. If you read my earlier beer blog posts on their beers, you know the history of this craft brewery. If you have not, please, read them to get to know Flying Dog Brewery. Let us get into this pumpkin IPA.

It has a amber like color with a white constant head. The smell has a cinnamon to nutmeg notes. The taste has a heavy cinnamon notes without any hop bitterest. The aftertaste has a cinnamon and nutmeg finish. It is pretty drinkable.

Closing, I am getting really burn out on pumpkin beers. It is not as excited as it was before. I really did not like beer at all and normally I like just about everything that this brewery puts out on the market. I was very disappointed. It might have been something that I ate or drink before. New Beer Blog Payette Brewing Outlaw India Pale Ale

In this beer blog, we are going to get into a beer from Payette Brewing for the first time. The beer that will be feature is Outlaw India Pale Ale. Mike Francis, who is the founder, studied at Chicago’s Siebel Institute of Technology after leaving his corporate job. He founded his brewery in 2010 at Boise, Idaho. They opened their new brewery in 2016 and they have six every day beers in cans. They are the first craft brewery in the state that package their beers in cans. Let us get into this IPA.

It has a cloudy light amber color with a white constant head. The aroma has a sweet malt forward with a citrus notes. The taste has a citrus notes with a slight bitter aftertaste. It is kind of drinkable beer.

Closing, I am a huge hophead. I love my hops and IPA’s. This was mine first beer that I had in my Beer Of The Month. This beer is missing something to me. I am not saying it is a bad beer. I am not a huge fan of it. I am glad that I have tried it. I believe this craft brewery does not make this beer anymore. I cannot find it on their website. I recommend it to try it at least once. Closing, this craft brewery has hit two home-runs with both IPA’s. I am talking about The Calling and this one, which is called Heavy Lifting IPA. This is the first everyday beer that I love from Boulevard Brewing. There is some nice citrus notes and great selection of hops. I am loving Amarillo and Citra hops. I love it. It has a cloudy golden color with a white constant color head. The aroma has a nice heavy citrus notes. The taste has a citrus to tropical fruit notes with a hint of grapefruit notes. The aftertaste has a citrus to hop bitter notes. It is pretty drinkable beer.

Closing, I am not a huge fan of Boulevard Brewing. I do enjoy their high-end brews that are in four pack and 750ml bottles. There is some nice aroma notes. I love the tropical fruit notes in the tasting profile. I love this beer. I do believe this beer does not hold up well to age. Age is what kills IPA’s. This is a great beer and they did a great job. Ending, I do not know about you but I am getting sick of these marketing gimmick on brews. This Imperial Session IPA is really a IPA. I realize that this beer is making fun of the Session IPA. I did not like the hops that were picked on this beer. It is mix of hops. It is just like every IPA on the market. I am a little disappointed as a Hophead. I still recommend this beer since it is one off brew. Go get some! Drink it! Metal it! Enjoy it! \m/

New Beer Blog Alaskan Hop Turn IPA

In this beer blog, we are going to sample another beer from Alaskan Brewery. It is their Hop Turn IPA. It has a slightly cloudy to a fog like golden color with a white constant head. The aroma has a citrus notes. The taste has a dry citrus to lemon notes with a dry lemon bitter aftertaste. It is kind of drinkable beer.

In the end, I was pretty happy to see this craft brewery make it to the State of Michigan. I was disappointed that their Black IPA did not make it. The last year, they have been pushing more and more of their IPA’s. I am holding on to hope that they bring their black IPA to the state. I was not impressed with this beer. It has everything that I am looking for in an IPA. It just rub me the wrong way. It is a spring seasonal so I am good with it. I can see others liking this product. I recommend it for a try. New Beer Blog Stone Brewery Enjoy By Tangerine IPA

It has a clear golden color with a white constant head. The aroma has a tangerine to juicey citrus notes. The taste has a nice juicey tangerine notes with a nice tangerine aftertaste. It is pretty drinkable beer.

In the end, the year of the fruit beer keeps on rolling. Here is another fruit IPA. It is coming from Stone Brewery. I know this craft brewery never disappoints many of us craft beer drinkers. I have to say they stepped up and made a better beer than New Belgium Citradelic IPA. I am not saying it is better but if I had to drink this one. I have to say Stone. New Belgium one is a great beer and they make great craft brands. I just like this one because of the ABV and that leads me to talk about a local one from Frankenmuth Brewery. It is their Tangerinos IPA. Just like the Stone, the ABV is around 9%. Closing, there is nothing wrong with New Belgium along with these two beers. They are all great beers and this is my thought. I am getting more favor from Stone and Frankenmuth. I highly recommend all these beers. Go get some! Drink it! Enjoy it! Metal it! \m/

New Beer Blog Woodward Avenue Brewers Visit

In this beer blog, I had a chance to visit brewpub over the holiday weekend, which was Memorial Day. I know it does not matter. I visited the Woodward Avenue Brewpub also known as WAB. It is located almost on the corner of Nine Mile and Woodward. I am going to start with the history, beer, and other things. Let us get into the history.

WAB opened their doors for the first time in 1997. There is not much history that I can find on the web. I believe they are first brewpub and brewery in the Ferndale area. Let us get into the beer.

There is a new brewmaster in place now. The new brewmaster came from Green Bush Brewery. If you live in the State of Michigan, you know everything about Green Bush Brewery. They make some pretty solid beers. Their Blonde Lager has been around since the start of this brewery. It is a pretty solid beer. They did an Imperial Blodne Ale. The Imperial Blonde has some honey in it. I am not a fan of Blonde Ales. I can see many craft beer drinkers drinking this beer. The word on the street was their new IPA. It is Detroit Maiden IPA. It is a pretty solid IPA. I feel this beer is a work in process. I do not mean this in a negative light. Every good brewery is always looking to improve. I feel this brewmaster is still working to improve all the beer and WAB themselves is making it happen. They made a nice dry stout on nitro. They are a little bit ahead of most craft breweries. This is a solid stout and I rather drink this over Guinness. There is a nice cream ale with Raspberries. There is a Pale Ale. Both are pretty solid beers.

Closing, this brewpub is starting to move in a good direction. I know a few months back they loss their old brewmaster. I was wondering who would replace him. I have to say that I believe they picked the right guy. He is just starting his tour but I have to say people are already talking about WAB. I live on the west of Detroit. If I am in the Ferndale area, I will stop in and have a few IPA’s. The future is bright and I cannot wait to see what is up next. I recommend this brewpub. Go get some! Drink it! Enjoy it! Closing, I am so done with Session IPA’s. I am not going to blog about them and sample them anymore. They are Pale Ales and that is that. No more marketing gimmick. I accidentally picked up this beer. I am done after this beer style unless it says Pale Ale. This is a pretty good version of a Pale Ale. Death to the session IPA’s. Drink it! Not Enjoy it!
