New Beer Blog Sixpoint Autumnation

In this fall beer blog, we are going to get into another beer from Sixpoint Brewery. This beer is their fall seasonal called Autumnation. If you read my earlier blog on their Apollo, you are know the history on this brewery. If you have not, please, read the first part of that post. Let us get into the beer.

This fall seasonal has a clear copper color without a head on the beer. The smell is a slight piney to it. There is no smell to this beer. The taste is a sweet carbonation to earthly with a dry bitter aftertaste. It is kind of drinkable beer.

In closing, I really enjoyed the change of pace that this beer gave me to the rest of the fall beers on the market. Do not give me wrong, I love my fair share of pumpkin and Oktoberfest beers. I love the hoppy taste and yet the beer pulled out some malty taste. I have not been disappointed with any of the beers that Sixpoint has put out on the market. I really need to make it to Brooklyn to check out the brewery. If you have yet check out their beers but read all my post, go get some and stop reading for a bit. You will not be disappointed with this brewery that is taking the traditional beer styles and put a twist on them in a good way. This beer is no different. Go get some! Drink it! Enjoy it! New Beer Blog Big Horn Ram Oktoberfest

In this fall beer blog, we are going to get into another fall seasonal. This fall beer is coming from Big Horn Ram Oktoberfest. If you read my earlier blog post on this brewery’s beer, you know a little history of this brewery. If you have not, please, read the first part of that beer post. Let us get into the beer.

The beer has a nice clear copper color without a head. The smell is a sweet malty to caramel to the beer. The taste is a sweet carbonation malty with a malty aftertaste. It is extremely drinkable beer.

In closing, I enjoy this brewery for the value you get out of their food and beer. This is a huge comment for this brewery and it is the fact this was one of the best Oktoberfest that I had this season. It is extremely drinkable and great taste to this craft beer. New Beer Blog Oskar Blues Deviant Dale’s India Pale Ale

In this blog, we are going to get into Oskar Blues Brewing and the beer is called Deviant Dale’s India Pale Ale. Oskar Blues was founded in 1997 by Dick Dale Katechis in Longmont, Colorado. They brew several different beer styles but they use only cans for their packaging. Oskar Blues was the first craft brewery to package their beer in cans. Let us get into the beers.

It has a cloudy copper color with a white head on the beer. The smell is of a heavy citrus to almost grapefruit to the beer. The taste is a sweet grapefruit taste with a balance from the malts. The aftertaste is a bitter dry to it. For being Double IPA, it is pretty drinkable beer.

This beer is intended to be assault for hop lovers and is a returning favorite from the little brewery in Lyons, Colorado.

In closing, I am excited to have this brewery in the Chicago Market. When I wanted to drink their beers, I had to work the phones or get friends or family to bring back beer for me. For this brewery, I will not have to do that anymore. I saw this beer on draft at the Blue Bar. This is a pretty good India Pale Ale. I really enjoyed this beer and I will be searching for it at my local liquor stores. I see their Dale’s Pale Ale in most liquor stores which is expected. New Beer Blog Thirsty Dog Brewery Barktoberfest Lager

While in Michigan, I went up to Frankenmuth, Michigan to check out the Frankenmuth Brewery. I checked out the Lager Mill and this beer popped off the shelves from Thristy Dog Brewery. The name of the beer is Barktoberfest Lager. I love the play on the words. Of course, I have to enjoy this beer because I cannot take it on the plane back to Chicago. Here is a little history of the brewery. Thirsty Dog Brewery is based in Akron, Ohio in an old brewery building. They were founded in 1997 in many brewpubs in Canton, Ohio area. Let us get into the beer.

Barktoberfest is their Fall Seasonal and has some nice packaging. Barktoberfest has a nice clear copper color with a constant bubbles and white head. There is a sweet malty smell. The taste is a sweet carbonation malty with a nice clean crisp aftertaste. It is pretty drinkable beer.

In closing, I want to try more beers from this brewery. I thought this beer was about average to slightly above average. I love how this beer how the pop carbonation. It had the nice malty taste and extremely drinkable. However, drinking this beer, I am looking forward to trying the rest of their beers. This beer made me take notice to this brewery. New Beer Blog Frankenmuth Brewery Red Sky Irish Style Ale

While in Michigan, This beer is from the Frankenmuth Brewery Company. I did not have enough time to try it at the brewery so I pick up this bottle in the Downtown area of Frankenmuth at the Lager Mill Beer Store. I am really looking forward to their Winter Lager. If you have not read the first part of my earlier blog, please, read the first part of that blog post. Let us get into the beer.

It has a nice red color with a constant white head. There is small bubbles that flow to the top of the beer. The smell is caramel to malty. The taste is a sweet malty with a little caramel with a dry aftertaste. It is pretty drinkable.

This malt focused Irish style red ale uses roasted barley to give it its robust red color and subtle caramel notes. Red Sky is a full flavored ale with a smooth malty finish.

Bottom of beer bottle, I am not a fan of Irish Red Ales. This one for what it is was pretty good. It has a ton of flavor and everything that a Red Ale fan is looking for in this beer style. I enjoyed it but I would not put it in my everyday line up of beers. Just because I said that, it does not mean you will not enjoy this beer. This is a really good beer and I did enjoy it. New Blot Bridgeport Brewing Witch Hunt Spiced Harvest Ale

In this fall beer blog, we are going to dig into one of my favorite west coast breweries, who is Bridgeport Brewery. The beer that will be feature is their first Fall Season, which is called Witch Hunt. If you read my earlier beer blogs on this brewery, you are pretty up to speed in the history and information on this great brewery. If you have not, please, go back and read the first part of that post. Let us get into the beer.

This beer is the first attempted for Bridgeport Brewing to make a Fall Seasonal. It has a nice amber color or a little darker amber color. The smell is of spices, malty, cinnamon, and nutmeg. The taste is more of the spice of cinnamon and nutmeg. It has a nice malty aftertaste. It is pretty drinkable even though it is pretty complex taste.

Something wicked this way comes. From slightly sweet caramel malts, Witch Hunt offers an intense dry hop character finished with a hint of cinnamon and nutmeg spices.

Closing, I really love this brewery and everything they brew. They have a really nice Brewpub in Portland and I am hoping to have a chance to return there in a few weeks (October 11th that weekend). Pretty much all of their seasonals do not disappoint. I love how they took a classic American Harvest style and mixed the cinnamon and nutmeg that you find in Pumpkin ales. Most Pumpkin ales or lagers you normally do not taste the pumpkin in it. When the beer drinker tries this beer, he or she will get the matly taste while tasting cinnamon and nutmeg. You will feel like you are drinking Harvest Ale and a Pumpkin Ale at the same time. This beer is extremely unique and drinkable. It is better than most Pumpkin Ales and Lagers and different than the other Fall Seasonals. They did an awesome job and it became my favorite Fall Seasonal. Go get some! Drink it! Enjoy it! New Blog Milwaukee Brewing Hoptober Fest

While in Milwaukee, we are going to take a look at one of my favorite breweries in the city north of Chicago. Milwaukee Brewing Hoptober Fest is one of their few Fall Seasonal. If you read my earlier blog on their beers, you are pretty up to speed on this brewery. If you have not, please go back and read the first part. Let us get into the beer.

This is one of their many seasonal beers and a few in the Fall Seasonal. It has a nice clear amber color with a little head on the beer. The smell is like the traditional German Oktoberfest beers. It has a sweet malty smell to the beer. The taste of the beer is a sweet carbonate malty with a nice crisp malty aftertaste. This is a perfect beer for the Fall and drinkable too.

Our hoppy take on a classic seasonal German style lager. Brewed with pale ale, caramel, and toasted Munich malts that attribute a sweet earthy malty flavor, toasted aroma, and a bright orange hue. German Tettnanger hops add an herbal peppery flavor and nose.

One of my favorite parts about brewing this beer is that we’re participating in a seasonal brewing tradition that spans the globe. Since nearly all craft breweries take part in the Oktoberfest season, I like to try the different renditions side by side.

We use a traditional lager fermentation along side the traditional toasted Munich style malts. There are a lot of bready characters that come up during the brew. We wanted to brew a hoppier version of the brew, so we added Perle, Tettnang and Columbus hops.

The simple recipe hasn’t changed since we started brewing it in 2006.

Closing out, I was not expecting a true Octoberfest Marzin style. I thought it was going to be over hop amber ale or lager. Here it is your normal Octoberfest that is slightly hop. It is pretty drinkable and has a ton of flavor. This beer just became my favorite fall beer. This is a huge debate in my head between MKE Hoptober, Scharfly Pumpkin, or Brooklyn Oktoberfest. I have to say they are all tied for first place. I cannot make my mind. This is good because all these breweries that make some awesome beers. This beer I would run not walk and get some of this brew before it is all gone. Go get some! Drink it! Enjoy it! Metal it! \m/

New Blog Hell’s Addiction – Alcohol (Single)

In this music blog, we are going to get into and upcoming band called Hell’s Addiction. They are getting ready to put out their new record called “Raise your Glass.” There is not too much history or information from this young band. Here is some things I found off their website.

In closing, I enjoyed Alcohol. It is metal in your face. They have the energy live that bleeds over on their studio record. It has been a long time since a band comes out with the energy these guys have in their music. They were influence from the pioneers of metal and the generation after that them. This band has the edge that most metal bands today are missing and it is refreshing to see from them. They have some talented guitar players, nice rhythm selection from the bass and drums, and a singer that fits their style. I am looking forward to hear their new record. Drink it! Enjoy it! New Blog Lagunitas India Pale Ale

New beer tab, Lagunitas India Pale Ale is the feature beer in this new beer blog. It is part of their everyday six-pack beer. If you read my earlier blog on their Fusion 8, you are pretty up to speed on this brewery. If you have not read it, please, go back to read the first part of it. Let us get into the beer.

It has a dark golden color to copper color with a constant white head. It has a citrus smell to this IPA. The taste has a sweet slightly carbonation to citrus taste with nice citrus to piney aftertaste. It is drinkable for being a West Coast India Pale Ale.

Closing out the beer tab, this beer is a really awesome beer. To me, this India Pale Ale is a dessert for IPAs. It is very well balance and has a nice malty backbone. It is drinkable and I cannot wait for their brewpub to open here in Chicago. This brewery makes several great brews and puts their own twist on it. Their beers are worth the value that you pay at the Beer Stores. You can not say that about all the beers that are in the market. New Blog Sixpoint Brownstone

In this blog, Sixpoint Brownstone will be featured in this latest edition. If you read my earlier blog on Sixpoint beers, you are pretty up to speed on this brewery. If you have not, please, go back and read the first part of that blog. Let us get into the beer.

Sixpoint Brownstone has a brown color with a heavy carbonation to the beer. It has a sweet malty smell to the beer. The brown ale has a sweet malty taste with a nice malty aftertaste. It is extremely drinkable for being a dark beer. Most general beer drinkers see a dark beer and believe it is not drinkable. In some cases, some dark beers can be drinkable more then their golden to white looking beers.

Closing out the blog, I really enjoy drinking beers from Sixpoint Brewery. I am glad that they are in Chicago market. I love how this brewery takes a classic beer style and put their twist on it. It gives the craft beer drinker a new drinking experience. To me, this is one of the best brown ales on the market. My two favorite brown ales are this one from Sixpoint and Brooklyn. The thing is that they are two different twist on the same beer style. I would think it would be nice if Sixpoint, Bronx Brewery, and Brooklyn Brewery should do a beer together. It should be called New York Gangster Take Me Down Ale. I do not know. I am thinking out loud in words on this blog. Sixpoint did a great job on their new can beer, which is Brownstone. Go get some!
