It has a jet black color with a constant tan color. The smell is like burned chocolate with slight coffee notes. The taste of this big body beer is creamy and smooth chocolate notes with notes of coffee. The aftertaste is dry crisp coffee bean that fades out. It is a sipping beer.

Closing, I brought up a ton of this brew because it was marked down. I know for past experience with Imperial Stout. They can last for a good five years. I was not worried about buying this beer out of code this year. This brew is really good right now and it will get better over time. The coffee is pretty heavy at first but it calms down in the later part of the bottle or the drinking experience. This is a great beer and I am sad they stop making this brew. Deschutes Brewery Obsidian Stout is the feature craft brewery and beer on this beer blog post. If you read my earlier beer blog on their other brews, you know the rich history of this brewery. It has a jet black color with a constant tan to off white color head. The smell is a roasted to chocolate notes. The taste is a smooth creamy chocolate roasted notes. The aftertaste is dry roasted chocolate notes. For being a stout, it is pretty drinkable beer. I can see most people think it is not drinkable beer.

In the end, I know many of you readers know I am a huge fan of this brewery. I know many of my friends know I am a huge fan. This brew is not a disappointment. There is not a drop off from their flagship to this brewery. This brewery makes some great beers and I cannot wait for them to make to the Michigan market. If they do not, I know when I make trips back to Chicago. I will be picking up some beer. As craft beer industry keeps on growing, Deschutes Brewery will be there still pushing the limits of the craft beer drinkers like they did from the beginning in 1988. I highly recommend this stout. New Beer Blog Laughing Dog Brewing Anubis Imperial Coffee Porter

In this beer blog, we are going to sample out first brew from a brewery, which is Laughing Dog Brewing. I was excited to try it. The beer is their Anubis Imperial Coffee Porter. Laughing Dog Brewing is a young company. It was stated in 2005 in Sandpoint, Idaho. They brew several different beer styles. They brew up to 15 different beer styles. They have won several awards for their brews. The dog that is featured on their beer bottles, logos, etc is their family dog, who is Ben. There is not too much information for this eight year old company. Let us get into beer.

It has a jet black color with a constant tan color head on this coffee porter. The smell is toffee and hints of coffee. The taste of this imperial coffee porter is a creamy sweet black strong coffee with roasted coffee notes. It is not drinkable beer unless the beer drinker is a coffee porter and stout and then it is drinkable.

In closing, this brew is pretty good. I was not too familiar with this brewery. I was pretty interested to sit down to try this beer and do some back history. Some reason, I believed I saw their brews in the State of Illinois. However, this brew is pretty complex that is extremely good thing, the notes go from chocolate and coffee notes. I will have to trade with my friend to get a few more of their beers. I believe they are not available in the a Michigan. I recommend this brew. Go get some! Drink it! Enjoy it! Metal it! \m/

New Beer Blog Starr Hill All Access Cryptical Imperial Stout

Starting a new beer tab, we are going to sample out another beer from Starr Hill Brewery. This blog will feature All Access Crypitcal Imperial Stout. If you read my earlier beer blog post on their Amber Ale, you know the history of this brewery. If you have not, please, read that beer blog post to get to know this brewery. It has a jet black color with a tan color head on this stout. The smell has a roasted malts with some chocolate notes. The taste of this Imperial Stout is roasted dark chocolate notes. The aftertaste is burn chocolate notes. It is not drinkable beer.

Closing out the beer tab, this brewery, just what I have been saying in the past beer blogs posts, knows how to brew beer. This Imperial Stout is not drinkable beer but it packs a ton of flavor in this 22oz bottle. I enjoyed drinking this beer and I wish I could get more in the Michigan market. I guess I will have to trade more with my friend. I love the hops they use in this brew and there is some nice chocolate notes. I recommend this beer if you can find this beer. Go get some! Drink it! New Beer Blog Pipeworks Brewing Raspberry Truffle Abduction

In this beer blog, we are going to get into a brewery I have been wanting to try in a while. I am talking about Pipeworks Brewing and the beer is their Raspberry Truffle Abduction. Pipeworks Brewing was founded in 2012 in Chicago, IL by Beejay Oslon and Gerrit Lewis. The brewery is located around the Bucktown area of Chicago. They brew several different beers and bottle them in 22oz bottles to 750ML. There is not much history on this brewery because it is young and upcoming brewery. Let us get into the beer.

It has a jet black color with a constant tan head on the beer. The smell is heavy raspberry to it. The taste of this light to medium body beer is heavy dry chocolate cover raspberry. I can barely taste any of the stout. It is really drinkable.

It is a shame human, that we must wipe from your memory the rich chocolate delight that is Raspberry Truffle Adduction. Its soft raspberry flavor blossoming like frivolous human emotion, galactic absconce at the long-fingered hands of we cosmic plumbers.

This beer is unfiltered. Sedimentation may occur. For best flavor, allow bottle to chill for two hours before serving allowing for the natural yeast to settle out. Pour slowly into your favorite glass, being careful to leave sediment behind.

In closing, I was pretty impressed with this beer. The only thing I would change, however, I do not think the brewery can cut down on how much raspberries they use in the beer. There is light taste to this stout but the raspberry over took the stout. The stout comes across as chocolate cover raspberry. Overall, this is a really good beer. New Beer Blog Fuller’s London Porter

Fuller’s London Porter is the next brew that will be featured on this beer blog. If you read my beer blog post on their ESB, you know the history of this brewery. If you have not read that beer blog post, please, that beer blog post to get to know this brewery. Let us get into the beer.

It has a jet black color without a head on the beer. The smell is rich chocolate black coffee. The taste of this light to medium body beer is dark chocolate and coffee with a dry dark chocolate aftertaste. It is not drinkable beer.

In the end, this is a great classic porter from Fuller’s. This beer is rich and smooth with a ton of chocolate and coffee notes. There is a lot going in this brew. I can see many American Craft Breweries trying to make their own version of this great beer. If you love porters, this is one porter you have to try before you make any judgement on other porters in the world. This porter is in my top five porters of all time. New Beer Blog Frankenmuth Tornado Black IPA

In this special beer blog from Michigan Brewer’s Guild Summerfest, we are going to get into my one of my favorite craft breweries and beer from Michigan. The brewery is Frankenmuth Brewery and the beer is Tornado Black IPA. I have been wanting try this beer for a long time. I could not find it whenever I was in town. I was happy to see it being poured at this beer festival. If you read my earlier beer blog on their beers, you know the history of this brewery. It has a black color without a head on the beer. There is a slight coffee and chocolate to pine and citrus. The taste is a chocolate circus with a dry fruity notes. It is pretty drinkable beer.

Closing out, I really enjoyed this brew. This beer did not disappoint me at all. This is a pretty unique beer and it is hard to master on the brewery side of things. It is hard for most craft beer drinkers to get to know and enjoy this beer style. I believe this beer will bring some experience craft beer drinkers over to the Black IPA beer style. I was pretty stun on how drinkable this brew is too. The other thing that makes this beer pretty impressive is the fact it is coming from German base brewing style. New Beer Blog Founders Brewing Porter

In this beer blog, we are going to get into another brew from Founders Brewing and it is their Porter. If you read my earlier beer blog post on their cherry ale, you know the history of this brewery. If you have not, please, read that post to get to know this craft brewery from the west side of Michigan. Let us get into the beer.

It has a jet black color without head on the beer. The smell is a burn chocolate to the porter. The taste is a burn chocolate with a smoky chocolate aftertaste. To average beer drinker, this is not drinkable. To your craft drinkers, this is a drinkable beer.

In closing, I love my porters and stouts. I have to say Founders Brewing has a really good brew here. I was pretty impressed with this brew and this brewery. I believe I need to sit down and retry their beers. This porter has everything that a porter fan would be looking for in their beer. It has a nice chocolate taste. I could drink a few of these beers in a round, however, I believe your average beer drinker would not think this is a session beer. They might have one after dinner with their dessert. New Beer Blog 3 Fonteinen Zwet.be Belgian Porter

Happy 4th of July, we are going to get into 3 Fonteinen Zwet.be in this beer blog. It is a pretty unique beer. It is a Belgian Porter, which is unique as it is, but they use the Begian yeast during the brewing process. 3 Fonteinen was founded in 1887 in Belgium. They were brewing lambics beers. It is style of blending old and young beer into one. It was sold 1953 to Gaston De Belder and it has been the family since. The current owners have expanded the brewery and they have been exploring into different beer styles like the one we are review here. Let us get into this unique beer.

It has a jet black color with a constant tan to light brown color head. The smell is a dark chocolate cover fruit. The taste of this full body is a dark chocolate with a tart aftertaste. It is a sipping beer with a cigar.

This unusual ale is the brainchild of Armand Debelder, brewer and blender of the world-famous Drie Fonteinen lambics. A Belgian Porter, brewed with wild yeast cultured from Armand’s casks of lambic.

Zwet.be, unusual “black” beer mixed gistingis is brewed with wheat, Maris Otter malt and cara malt.

Specifically, the mixed fermentation, yeast culture on the one hand from the Beersel Blonde, other lambic yeast. The lambic, brewed by Armand Debelder, a specific type of Brettanomyces geïsolleerd. This yeast gives this beer of 7% alc. volume slightly tart finish.

In the end, I hope this would be my last beer on the planet. This is amazing sipping beer. I am a huge porter fan and I have not really been a fan of Belgian beers. This beer is in my top five list of best porters ever had so far in my life. This porter has everything that will make the Belgian fans happy and non Belgian fans happy. There is the dark chocolate to tart notes. This is dark chocolate cover fruit because of the tart. I am pretty speechless on what to say about Zwet.be. It just tells you how much I liked this beer. I will say this just because I like this beer. It does not mean you will like it too. I would keep an open mind and draw your own thought pattern. New Beer Blog Speakeasy Payback Porter

In this beer blog, we are going to get into another beer from Speakeasy out of San Francisco. If you read my earlier beer blog post with all their six-pack beers, you know the history of this brewery. It is a jet black color with a tan color head. The smell has a heavy chocolate to the beer. The taste is between chocolate to toffee with a coco aftertaste. For a dark beer and a dark beer drinker, it is a pretty beer drinkable.

In closing, this brewery has not disappointed me at all. Speakeasy makes some good beers and lived up to the hype that is being said throughout the country. Their Payback Porter brings up the back-end of their beer line up and lives up as a great beer. This beer has a ton going on and craft beer drinker will be picking this up throughout the year.
