New Beer Blog Abita Coffee Stout

In this beer blog, we are going to get into another limited release beer from Abita.  It is their Coffee Stout.  If you read my earlier beer blog posts on their beers, you know the history of this southern craft brewery.  If you have not, please, read them to get to know this craft brewery.  Let us get into this stout.

It has a jet black color with a tan constant color head. The aroma has a heavy coffee notes. The taste has a coffee to bourbon notes. The aftertaste has a nice coffee notes. It is a sipping beer.

This dark Coffee Stout is brewed with pale, caramel, chocolate and roasted malts and oats. Willamette hops balance the malt sweetness. After fermentation and first aging, the beer is aged again in oak bourbon barrels. Espresso Dolce beans from PJ’s Coffee® are added to the beer for a blend of flavors including coffee, malt, wood and hints of vanilla.

In the end, I am not a huge fan of this craft brewery, however, I do respect what they have been doing since their exist.  It is hard to destroy a stout.  I love my stouts and porters.  I hate drinking coffee but I love it in my beer.  This is a great beer and they did a great job.  I love the coffee beans that they picked.  This is what makes a different in coffee stout.  There is a nice balance.  I love it. New Beer Blog Weyerbacher Sunday Morning Stout

In closing, this craft brewery is slowly becoming on my go to list of new beers.  Yes, I know some of these beers are not new to most of you reading this post.  They came into the Michigan market about year ago.  I missed this beer last year so when I saw it this time around.  I had to pick it up.  There is a nice balance from the coffee and stout notes.  It is almost like a black coffee.  It is a perfect morning beer. I like it but not my favorite coffee beer. I would not drink this beer in the morning.  That is just flat out crazy.  I recommend this beer.  Go get some!  Drink it!  Enjoy it!  Metal it!  \m/

New Beer Blog Coronado Brewing Blue Bridge Coffee Stout

In this beer blog, we are going to sample the second beer from Coronado Brewing.  It is their Blue Bridge Coffee Stout.  If you read my earlier beer blog on their everyday IPA, you know the history of this California craft brewery.  If you have not, please, read it to get to know Coronado Brewing.  Let us get into this coffee stout.

It has a jet black color with a tan to light brown color head. The aroma has a heavy coffee with a burn chocolate notes. The taste has a smooth creamy chocolate with a dry coffee aftertaste. It is pretty drinkable beer.

In the end, I was pretty excited when this craft brewery hit the shelves here in Michigan.  I have been wanting to try their beers.  I love my coffee stouts.  It was a no brainer to pick up bottle of their coffee stout.  I was not impressed with this beer.  It just seems a little water down.  It is not good and it could be better. It is pretty than most on the market.  There is better coffee stouts on the market.  It might be ok in the warm weather in California.  Here in the Midwest, we need a heavy stouts and porters.  Go get some!  Drink it!  Enjoy it!  Metal it!  \m/

New Beer Blog Sierra Nevada Coffee Stout

We are going to sample another brew from their new sampler pack, which is called Snow Pack.  It is their Coffee Stout.  If you read my earlier beer blog posts on this West Coast Legend craft brewery, you know the rich history of Sierra Nevada.  If you have not, please, read them to get to know this craft brewery.  Let us get into this Coffee Stout.

It has a jet black color with a creamy tan color head. The aroma has a slight chocolate and a heavy coffee notes. The taste has a burn malty and coffee notes with a dry chocolate to coffee aftertaste. It is a nice sipping beer.

Roasted malt is base malt that has been placed in a roaster similar to a coffee roaster to produce deeper, darker, baker’s cocoa and espresso flavors like those common in a porter or a stout.

Closing, I was pretty excited to see Sierra Nevada was making a coffee stout.  Their normal stout is beyond underrated on the craft beer market.  Sierra Nevada does not make a bad beer.  All their beers are beyond better than most craft breweries.  This coffee stout is a nice gateway beer to stout and coffee stout world.  The coffee beans are not overpowering like most coffee stout.  There is a nice balance that makes it uniquely drinkable for the beer style.  I highly recommend this beer.  Go get some!  Drink it!  Enjoy it!  Metal it! \m/

New Beer Blog Stone Brewery Coffee Milk Stout

In this beer blog, we are going to get into a new beer from Stone Brewery.  It is their Coffee Milk Stout.  If you read my earlier beer blog posts on their beers, you know the history of this west coast craft brewery.  If you have not, please, read them to get to know this craft brewery.  Let us get into this new beer.

It has a jet black color with a brown color head.  The smell has a creamy chocolate to slight coffee notes.  The taste has creamy chocolate with a slight burned coffee notes.  The aftertaste has a heavy coffee finish.  It is a sipping beer but kind of drinkable.

In the end, I love this beer and I hope they make it as an everyday beer.  This is why.  I was stun by the pice for the alcohol percentage.  I just thought this would be a pretty simple beer to make.  The price is high because the limited cases in the market.  This is a great beer asides that one negative mark.  Milk stout shines with a nice blend of coffee.  It has a nice creamy easy drinking notes with a nice coffee aftertaste.  If you are not a fan of coffee or stout, you will not like this beer.  If you are a fan, you need to hunt this beer down and try it.  This is a great beer and I hope they make more to get a lower price in the market.  Go get some!  Drink it!  Enjoy it!  Metal it!  \m/

New Beer Blog Oddside Ales Chocolade Koffie Stout

In this beer blog, we are going to get into another beer, which is Chocolade Koffie Stout, from Oddside Ales.  If you read my earlier beer blog posts on this Michigan craft brewery, you their history.  If you have not read those posts, please, do so to get to know Oddside Ales.  Let us get into this stout.

It has a jet black color with a tan to light brown color head.  The aroma had a heavy coffee notes.  The taste profile of this full body beer is a chocolate to heavy coffee notes with a dry coffee bean aftertaste.  It is kind of drinkable to a sipping beer.

Ending, I am a pretty big fan of this brewery and I will try anything new or beers I have not had yet from this brewery.  I am a pretty big fan of stouts, porters, pale ales, and India Pale Ales.  I do not like my coffee but only if it is in my beer.  I know this craft brewery knows how to use their coffee bean.  They shown me that in Bean Flicker Ale.  To me, there is something a little off in this brew.  I do not know if it is the stout or the coffee bean is over the stop.  I am starting to think that I might have picked up an old beer.  The problem is there is no code dates on their bottles.  I recommend this beer but I hope you get a better bottle.  Go get some!  Drink it!  Enjoy it!  Metal it! \m/

New Beer Blog Old Dominion Brewing Morning Glory Espresso Stout

In this 500th blog, we are going to sample out a brewpub that I had a chance to visit a few years go when I was in Washington D.C.  I am talking about Old Dominion Brewing.  The beer that we will review is their Morning Glory Espresso Stout.  Old Dominion Brewing was founded in 1989 by Jerry Bailey in Virginia.  In 2000’s, Jerry sold his brewery to Coastal Brewing Company and they later moved the brewery to Dover, Delaware.  They brew several different beers.  Let us get into this stout.

It has a jet black color with a nice creamy tan color head.  The smell is a slight coffee notes.  The taste has coffee with hint of chocolate notes.  The aftertaste has a dry coffee bean aftertaste.  It is a nice sipping brew.

Closing, I was excited moving back to Michigan to be close to family, however, I knew I could get some brews here that I could not get in the Chicago market.  This brewery is one of them.  I have had their Oak Barrel Stout a few times and I will have a review on that beer soon.  I enjoyed it and I put it on my towards the top of my stout list.  I was beer shopping and I came across this stout from Dominion Brewing.  The color, aroma, and tasting experience is out of this world.  This is a perfect beer after dinner or before.  There is nothing wrong having a sipping beer with a nice cigar.  I highly recommend this brew.  If you are looking for this brew or other beers from this brewery, please, visit their website and click on beer finder to pick up a six-pack or twelve pack today.  Go get some!  Drink it!  Enjoy it!  Metal it!  \m/

It has a jet black color with a constant tan color.  The smell is like burned chocolate with slight coffee notes.  The taste of this big body beer is creamy and smooth chocolate notes with notes of coffee.  The aftertaste is dry crisp coffee bean that fades out.  It is a sipping beer.

Closing, I brought up a ton of this brew because it was marked down.  I know for past experience with Imperial Stout.  They can last for a good five years.  I was not worried about buying this beer out of code this year.  This brew is really good right now and it will get better over time.  The coffee is pretty heavy at first but it calms down in the later part of the bottle or the drinking experience.  This is a great beer and I am sad they stop making this brew. New Beer Blog Laughing Dog Brewing Anubis Imperial Coffee Porter

In this beer blog, we are going to sample out first brew from a brewery, which is Laughing Dog Brewing. I was excited to try it.  The beer is their Anubis Imperial Coffee Porter.  Laughing Dog Brewing is a young company.  It was stated in 2005 in Sandpoint, Idaho.  They brew several different beer styles.  They brew up to 15 different beer styles.  They have won several awards for their brews.  The dog that is featured on their beer bottles, logos, etc is their family dog, who is Ben.  There is not too much information for this eight year old company.  Let us get into beer.

It has a jet black color with a constant tan color head on this coffee porter.  The smell is toffee and hints of coffee.  The taste of this imperial coffee porter is a creamy sweet black strong coffee with roasted coffee notes.  It is not drinkable beer unless the beer drinker is a coffee porter and stout and then it is drinkable.

In closing, this brew is pretty good.  I was not too familiar with this brewery.  I was pretty interested to sit down to try this beer and do some back history.  Some reason, I believed I saw their brews in the State of Illinois.  However, this brew is pretty complex that is extremely good thing, the notes go from chocolate and coffee notes.  I will have to trade with my friend to get a few more of their beers.  I believe they are not available in the a Michigan. New Beer Blog Arbor Brewing Espresso Love Breakfast Stout

In this beer blog, we are going to check out another beer from the Arbor Brewing.  It is their Espresso Love Breakfast Stout.  If you read my earlier beer blog post when I tried all their beers in a beer flight, you know the history of this brewery.  If you have not, please, read the first part or the whole beer blog post.  This post is perfect because I am on my way back to Michigan for a beer festival. Let us get into beer.

This beer has a jet black color with a semi tan head on it. The smell is a heavy coffee to it. The taste is a chocolate cover coffee that is smooth but still a full body. There is really no aftertaste.  It is a sipping beer.

In closing, this is one of my favorite beer styles.  This is the only way I get most of my coffee fix.  I know I am a little weird because I do not like drinking my coffee hot or warm.  I need it to be cold or coffee beans.  This beer is nice and creamy but yet has the heavy stout taste to it.  It is not drinkable but I can have one after dinner or for dessert.  There is a ton going on in this full body brew.  I have to say this is one of the best brews I have had in this beer style.  I highly recommend this brew.  Go get some!  Drink it!  Enjoy it!  Metal it!  \m/
