New Beer Blog Destihl Brewery Hoperation Overload Double IPA

In this beer blog, we are going to sample Hoperation Overload Double IPA from Destihl Brewery. Matt Potts switch careers from Lawyer to a brewmaster and CEO of Destihl Brewery in 2007.  They brew several different beer styles and they package most of their beers in cans.  Asides that, there is not much history from this young craft brewery.  Let us get into this Double IPA.

It has a dark copper color with a semi constant white head.  The aroma has a citrus to some floral notes.  The taste has some citrus to a slight caramel to sweet malty notes.  The aftertaste has a sweet caramel finish.  It is pretty drinkable beer.

In the end, I am a hardcore hophead.  I love my hops and I love every level of IPA’s.  Yes, I have grown to love White IPA’s.  There are some unique ones out there that I fall in love with.  However, we are talking about this Double IPA, I have to say I love it.  I love the fact it is package in cans and I love design of the label.  I love the play on words and I believe they are honoring those who serviced.  I love the finish of this beer.  For being Imperial IPA, it is pretty drinkable and that is a plus for us hopheads.  It is drinkable to the experience IPA drinkers.  I am not saying the guy that drinks wheat ales is going to say this is drinkable.  It is a sipping beer to him.  I recommend you trying this beer.  Go get some!  Drink it!  Enjoy it!  Metal it!  \m/

New Beer Blog New Belgium And 3 Floyd’s Grätzer Ale

In this special beer blog, we are going to get into a beer from New Belgium and 3 Floyd’s.  It is Grätzer Ale.  This is an old and ancient Polish beer recipe.  If you read my beer blog posts on both of these breweries’ beer, you know the history of these breweries.  If you have not, please, read them to get to know these craft breweries.  Let us into this beer.

It has a jet black color with a tan color head.  The smell a chocolate to cocoa notes.  The taste has a burned to smokey caramel to chocolate notes.  The aftertaste is dry cocoa notes with hints of smoke that disappears fast.  It is kind of drinkable beer.

It’s not dead. But Grätzer is definitely a long-buried style from Poland.  Together with 3 Floyds we unearthed its robust smokiness with oak smoked wheat and midnight wheat.  Polish Lublin hops for a bitter bite and lacto for a slightly sour finish.  This pours out a billowing, foamy mouth worth indulging.

Closing, this is a great beer and I enjoyed drinking it very much.  The Midnight Wheat is featured pretty well in this beer.  I enjoy it like most hops in the beer world. This beer is a limited release and kind of rare.  However, I just feel the beer is average, I enjoyed drinking. I just wish the price was a little lower but it is worth the try. This is a great beer. Go get some!  Drink it!  Enjoy it!  Metal it!  \m/

New Beer Blog New Holland Brewing Michigan Awesome Hatter IPA

In this beer blog, we are going to sample a special beer from New Holland Brewing.  It is their Michigan Awesome Hatter IPA.  If you read my earlier beer blog posts on their beers, you know the history of this craft brewery.  If you have not, please, read them to get to know New Holland Brewing.  Let us get into Michigan IPA.

It has a nice dark copper color with a nice white constant head on this Michigan IPA.  The aroma has a citrus notes.  The taste has a light carbonation citrus notes with hints of malty to light caramel in taste profile.  The aftertaste has a slight dry hoppy finish but it is pretty clean finish.  It is extremely drinkable brew.

Closing, I love supporting my local craft brewery.  I am honest to myself if a beer or brewery is bad.  I am not saying this beer or brewery was bad.  New Holland Brewery makes some average to slightly above average beers.  I do like some of their brews.  I have to say this beer is pretty good.  I just feel for the price gives me a different aspect of this brew.  I just feel it is just does not live up to the price. This beer is nothing special.  I do not care where everything comes from because it is not anything special. However I had this on draft, it is better on draft than bottle.  I thought it lived up to price on draft. I will give this brewery credit for trying.  I would love to hear your thoughts on this brew.  Go get some!  Drink it!  Enjoy it!  Metal it!  \m/

New Beer Blog Terrapin Beer Co Mosaic Red Rye India Pale Ale

In this beer blog, we are going to get into Terrapin Mosaic Red Rye India Pale Ale.  Terrapin was founded in 2002 by Brian Buckowski and John Cochran.  They are located at Athens, Georgia. They brew several different beer styles.  This brewery was named after Grateful Dead record.  Let us get into this rye ale.

It has a nice dark ruby-red color with a nice off white to tan color head.  The smell has a heavy malty to caramel notes with hints of earth to piney.  The taste has a malty to earthy hop notes with a dry bitter hop aftertaste.  It is pretty drinkable beer.

Closing, I knew there were other craft brewery in Georgia.  I just never had the chance to get around to sample these beers.  As many of you know, I am a huge fan of Sweetwater Brewery.  I was pretty excited to see this brew in my beer trade.  I will be on hunt to sample more of Terrapin’s beers in the near future.  Rye IPA’s are one of my favorite IPA beer style.  I am always on the hunt for new Rye IPA.  The depth that is in this beer is something else.  I mean that in a good way.  I love caramel to earthy and piney notes.  They did a great job on the malty backbone and selection of hop.  They used it correctly to feature it in this brew.  I highly recommend this beer.  Go get some!  Drink it!  Enjoy it!  Metal it!  \m/

New Beer Blog Wild Rose Brewery IPA

In this beer blog, we are going to get into Wild Rose Brewery IPA for the first time on this blog.   Wild Rose Brewery was founded in 1996 by Mike Tymchuk.  They were founded in Calgary, Canada.   They brew several different beers.   Let us get into this IPA.

It has a slightly cloudy copper color with a white constant head.  The aroma has a slight caramel to citrus notes.  The taste has a citrus to caramel notes with a dry hoppy finish.  It is pretty drinkable beer.

Closing, I have to say I have been pretty impressed with some craft beers from Canada.  I always thought they were a bunch of Lager breweries.  I guess I am so wrong.   I know they brew several ales around the country.  I did not think they are pretty good.  Well, Wild Rose Brewery and Mill Street Brewery are proving me wrong.  I am sorry for saying and thinking it.  I love the caramel notes bending with the citrus.  I love the hoppy dry finish that keeps me coming back for more of it.  Wild Rose Brewery has a winner IPA here.  I highly recommend this beer.  Go get some!  Drink it!  Enjoy it!  Metal it!  \m/

New Beer Blog Du Claw Brewery Neon Gypsy India Pale Ale

In this beer blog, we are going to get into another brew, which is Neon Gypsy India Pale Ale, from Du Claw Brewery.  It is another beer from my beer trade.  If you read my earlier beer blog posts on their beers, you know the history of this East Coast craft brewery.  If you have not, please, read them to get to know this craft brewery.  Let us get into this beer.

It has unfiltered copper color with a semi white head on this India Pale Ale.  The smell has notes of citrus and grapefruit.  The taste of this medium body is a heavy grapefruit to citrus notes with a dry hop bitter finish for the aftertaste.  It is pretty drinkable IPA.

Closing, there is some nice flavors in this beer.  I really enjoy drinking this beer and I wish I could get this brewery in the Michigan market.  I love the hops and the malty backbone.  It is a medium body beer that is pretty drinkable beer.  There is a heavy citrus to grapefruit notes.  I am pretty amaze with the seven different hops that they used in this beer.  If you are able to get this beer, I highly recommend it.  Go get some!  Drink it!  Enjoy it!  Metal it!  \m/

New Beer Blog Union Craft Brewing Duckpin Pale Ale

In this beer blog, we are going to sample Union Brewing Duckpin Pale Ale.  This brewery was founded in 2012 by Kevin Blodger, Adam Benesch and Jon Zerivitz.  They brew several different beers and they package them in cans.  Their website does not say it but it looks like some of their beers are draft only.  Let us get into this pale ale.

It has a copper color with inconstant white head on this pale ale.  The aroma has a heavy hints of citrus to tropical fruit notes.  The taste has a nice sweet malty notes that rips into a bitter citrus notes.  The aftertaste has a heavy hop bitter finish.  It is pretty drinkable beer.

Ending, I was pretty stun how good this beer was.  I did enjoyed this beer very much.  I love the hops that they picked for this brew.  This pale ale kicks off some nice citrus to tropical notes.  They builded a nice malty backbone that takes control of the hops in this brew.  It is pretty drinkable beer and is easy to drink brew.  I made a trade with my friend Matt out east.  I will be doing more trades and I will try to get more brews from this craft brewery.  I highly recommend this beer.  Go get some!  Drink it!  Enjoy it!  Metal it!  \m/

New Beer Blog Dragonmead Final Absoration Trippel

While at Ashley’s Westland, we are going to get into the second and probably the last beer from Dragonmead Brewery.  It is their Final Absorption Trippel.  If you read my beer blog review on their Crown Jewel IPA, you know the history of this Michigan craft brewery.  If you have not, please, read it to get to know Dragonmead Brewery.  Let us get into this beer.

It is a clear copper color with a semi white head.  The aroma has banana and clove notes.  The taste has a German Hefeweizen notes of banana and clove.  The aftertaste is dry Hefeweizen.  It is not drinkable beer.

Ending, WOW!  What the hell is this craft brewery thinking?  This is a local brewery to me here in Michigan.  This brewery is bad and I will not buying anymore of their beer.  I do not think this craft brewery knows their beer styles.  You made a filter Hefeweizen.  This is not a trippel Belgian style.   It is bad and it is not worth the money. I know most American craft breweries take twisted to classic beer styles.  It is not just me talking bad about this brewery. A few of my close craft beer drinker friends.  They been saying the same thing about it.  I do not recommend this beer.  Run away!  Drink it!  Enjoy it!  Metal it!  \m/

New Sports Thought Blog World Cup And Soccer

 

In this Sports Thought Thursday blog, we are going to get into the World Cup.  I am not going to get into the history of this tournament or soccer.  Personally, I really do not care.  It might shape the thought pattern on this blog.  The big question is why should we care in American?  Is soccer going to grow in the United Sates?  Let us get into this debate.

This is a big event around the world asides here in the United States.  I know there are many in the states that can give a crap.  However, if the US team keeps playing, the more interested it is going to gather in the States.  Will that help the sport grow in the states?  Of course, it will help but will anyone care after the World Cup is finish.  I see the only way this sport will make in the States if US team wins the cup.  It is a fact.  There has been several soccer leagues open in the states and then soon disappears in the dust.  We had the Rockers in Detroit and I was always getting free tickets to go watch the game.  I did not understand the game and I told myself I will be back to a game.  I never made it back.  We have NFL, MLB, NBA, and NHL.  Two out of four of our sports is what the world worries about.  They are MLB and NHL.  Most part of the world they do not care about MLB and NFL.  Do we have it wrong in the states?  Or is the world wrong?  I believe it is taste and what you like.  Soccer had its highest TV ratings during the US vs German match.  Is there more to come with this?  I would say yes.

In closing, I will write a follow-up blog at the end of the World Cup.  I personally do not care.  I just find the sport very boring.  I never saw so much flopping field or court.  I do understand it because I took the time to learn it.  I am turn off on the sport.  I wish all the countries the best of luck.  I believe we in the States will go back to not caring once the US is knocked out and when the World Cup disappears for another four years.  We do not care about soccer and it is reality.  It is a niche sport here.  Go get some!  Drink it!  Enjoy it!  Metal it!  \m/

This pale ale has a clear copper color with a white constant head.  The smell has a piney to citrus notes.  The taste has a light caramel to citrus notes.  The aftertaste has a dry hop finish.  It is a pretty drinkable brew.
