image

In this fall beer blog, we are going to get into a seasonal from past by Sierra Nevada Brewery.  It is their Tumbler Autumn Brown Ale.  If you read my earlier beer blog posts on their beers, you know the history of this West Coast craft brewery.  If you have not, please, read them to get to know this California base craft brewery.  Let us get into this brown ale.

It has a dark brown color with a white head. The aroma has a malty to sweet nutty notes.  There is a hint of smoke and chocolate notes. The taste has a sweet nutty with hints of smoke notes. The aftertaste has a dry malty finish. It is a nice drinkable fall beer.

Here is a description from the beer bottle:

Tumbler is our take on the classic brown ale – full of roasted malt flavor but delicate on the palate and perfect for crisp fall days.  layered with notes of chocolate and toasted bread and a hint of smoke, Tumbler is the ultimate autumn beer.

Closing, I miss this beer.  This beer was the fall beer seasonal like two to three years ago.  I give them credit for changing it up once in while.  Everyone does an Oktoberfest and it does not make sense to check into something that the rest of the market.  They did something different with their Oktoberfest.  They are brewing with a German brewery.  I have to say that it is really good.  It became one of my favorite brews to drink this fall.  I always love to revisit this beer.  I love this beer. I just wish that it was still available in six-pack and twelve pack. I hate that it is in a sampler pack, however, I am happy they are still giving us this great brew.  I highly recommend this beer.  Go get some!  Drink it!  Enjoy it!  Metal it!  \m/

Cheers!

New Beer Blog New Belgium Rampant Imperial IPA

image

In this beer blog, we are going get into another beer from New Belgium Brewery.  It is their Rampant Imperial IPA.  If you read my earlier beer blog posts on their beers, you know the history of this craft brewery.  If you have not, please, read them to get to know this Mile High craft brewery.  It is really Fort Collins but you get it.  Let us get into this Imperial IPA.

It has a clear golden color with a white constant head on this Imperial India Pale Ale. The aroma has a heavy earthly to herbal notes along with grassy notes. The taste has a heavy earthy to herbal and grassy notes. The aftertaste has an interesting peach finish. It is a sipping beer.

Here is a description from their website (www.newbelgium.com):

Burly and bitter,  Rampant Imperial IPA, pours a pure copper and carries the sheen of a rightly hopped beer. The Mosaic and Calypso hops bring stonefruit to the front seat, and the addition of Centennials nod towards citrus for a well-rounded aroma. The taste expands these hops with heavy peach tones and a profoundly bitter bite. There is some malt sweetness to stand up this Imperial India Pale Ale, and Rampant IPA’s finish is bone-dry.

In the end, what is there to say about Imperial whatever at the same price as their everyday beers.  This beer has a huge value.  I love when craft brewery do something like this for their beer drinkers.  This beer is a big and bond and in your face.  This is my go Imperial IPA.  They are featuring hops that I love to death.  I am talking about Mosaic and Centennial.  I love this beer and I know the brewery knows it. It is by far my favorite brew from New Belgium Brewery.  I highly recommend this beer.  Go get some!  Drink it!  Enjoy it!  Metal it!  \m/

Cheers!

Wilhelm Scream

The Call for Fall

The distant drums of change are thumping, signaling the coming of chilling frosts, falling leaves and ghoulish screams. In a patch ripe with orange glow, Wilhelm Scream awakens and unleashes his season-stirring call for fall. His revelers listen for his echo across the ripened dancing days and prepare their seasonal celebration of harvest and ale.

Ending, I am a fan of Magic Hat and I do not care if they are not independent anymore.  It should not matter anyways.  If they make good beer, you should be drinking it.  I get the whole local thing.  Let us face it.  It does not mean that they make good beer.  I know there are some really good craft breweries in the State of Michigan.  I do not need to list them because you know who I am talking about.  This beer smells like a pumpkin pie and it is not in your face like most pumpkin ales on the market.  There is a nice balance.  I love this beer and I cannot make up my mind between Smuttynose Pumpkin Ale and this beer.  I highly recommend this beer.  Go get some!  Drink it!  Enjoy it!  Metal it!  \m/

Cheers!

Closing, I was happy to hear that Deschutes was coming to the State of Michigan.  I do not know how they are doing in this state.  This state is a little different from other states about the drink the local beer.  I get it but there are some really good craft breweries outside of this state.  I believe this market is slowly turning.  I could be totally wrong on that thought.  I love this beer. This is better IPA than most Michigan IPA’s.  I highly recommend this beer.  Go get some!  Drink it!  Enjoy it!  Metal it!  \m/

Closing, I was happy to see this brewery finally make it to the Chicago market.  I had to move back home so I loss the chance to really enjoyed their beers.  Every time, I travel to the west coast.  I always try to bring some beer back home.  I happy that they followed me to Michigan.  Since i have not had their beers for a while, I brought a sampler pack and this beer was part of it.  I like it. It seems a little bit more bitter than Goose Island IPA. This is a great pale ale.  It is not as bitter as Sierra Nevada Pale Ale.  I recommend this beer.  Go get some!  Drink it!  Enjoy it!  Metal it!  \m/

Cheers!

Ending, I am not a fan of Spring and Summer seasonals.  They are too light in body for me or have no flavor.  I normally do not drink too many of these when they are in season.  Sierra Nevada Summerfest is about the only one that I will enjoy during the late Spring and Summer.  This Kölsch has a light body but it is still has a nice flavor.  I love this beer. I could drink this beer all day.  I highly recommend this beer.  Go get some!  Drink it!  Enjoy it!  Metal it!  \m/

Cheers!

Ending, I know many of you out there from my readers here and friends of mine.  They all know that I am not a fan of this craft brewery.  I just feel that they could be make better beers.  They have no pressure right now to check anything.  Michigan craft beer market is still growing along with their drinkers.  Once it is hits the peak.  I believe they will need to change some things up at that time.  I just wished they made better beer, however, this beer is pretty good.  It is better than most of their beers.  I recommend this beer.  Go get some!  Drink it!  Enjoy it!  Metal it!  \m/

Cheers!

New Beer Blog Perrin Black Ale

image

In this beer blog, we are going to get into another brew from Perrin Brewery.  It is their Black Ale.  This beer was a Black Lager.  They changed this beer to an ale to keep up with demand.  If you read my earlier beer blog posts on their beers, you know the history of this Michigan craft brewery.  If you have not, please, read them to get to know this Midwest craft brewery.  Let us get into this black ale.

It has a jet black color with a tan color head at first that disappears over time. The smell has a chocolate with coffee like notes. The taste of this light body ale has a chocolate to coffee like notes. It has a heavy malty notes but still light like a light Lager. The aftertaste has a nutty finish that hangs around. It is extremely drinkable beer.

Here is a description from their website (www.perrinbrewing.com):

Perrin Black ABV 5.8% IBU 25

The Black Ale is low in gravity, clean, crisp, and flavor-filled; giving off a bread-like aroma. This beer proves that deep colors do not signify rich potency. Our Black Ale is deceptively light on the tongue.

Closing, this brewery is one of my favorite craft breweries in the State Of Michigan.  I am a fan of Petoskey Brewery, Right Brain, Frankenmuth Brewery, and Canton Brew Works.  The goal for this craft brewery is to brew beers that are drinkable and does not matter the beer style.  I will say they did a great job on this brew.  This is not my favorite beer style. I am not saying this is a bad beer.  It is a really good beer and respect what they did with this beer.  I can see many people liking this beer.  I highly recommend this beer.  Go get some!  Drink it!  Enjoy it!  Metal it!  \m/

Cheers!
