New Beer Blog Canton Brew Works Buffout Brown Ale

In this beer blog, we are going to sample another beer from Canton Brew Works.  It is their Buffout Brown Ale.  If you read my earlier beer blog posts on their beers, you know the history of this Michigan base craft brewery.  If you have not, please, read them to get to know this Midwest craft brewery.  Let us get into this brown ale.

It has a slightly cloudy brown color without a head. The smell has a sweet malty to nutty notes. The taste has a sweet to dry malty with hints of nutty notes. The aftertaste has a dry nutty finish. It is a nice drinkable English style brown ale.

Closing, this young craft brewery is still and coming up with some great new beers.  It is hard to believe that this craft brewery has been around for two years.  There is some nice aroma and tasting notes in this beer.  I love it. I could drink this beer all day. I will be back for more.  This is a nice English style brown ale but I bet they call it an American brown ale.  It is a great beer and I highly recommend this beer.  Go get some!  Drink it!  Enjoy it!  Metal it!  \m/

New Beer Blog Abita Coffee Stout

In this beer blog, we are going to get into another limited release beer from Abita.  It is their Coffee Stout.  If you read my earlier beer blog posts on their beers, you know the history of this southern craft brewery.  If you have not, please, read them to get to know this craft brewery.  Let us get into this stout.

It has a jet black color with a tan constant color head. The aroma has a heavy coffee notes. The taste has a coffee to bourbon notes. The aftertaste has a nice coffee notes. It is a sipping beer.

This dark Coffee Stout is brewed with pale, caramel, chocolate and roasted malts and oats. Willamette hops balance the malt sweetness. After fermentation and first aging, the beer is aged again in oak bourbon barrels. In the end, I am not a huge fan of this craft brewery, however, I do respect what they have been doing since their exist.  It is hard to destroy a stout.  I love my stouts and porters.  I hate drinking coffee but I love it in my beer.  This is a great beer and they did a great job.  I love the coffee beans that they picked.  This is what makes a different in coffee stout.  There is a nice balance.  I love it. I will get more.  I highly recommend this beer.  Go get some!  Drink it!  Enjoy it!  Metal it!  \m/

New Beer Blog Shipyard Ginger Bread Head

In this beer blog, we are going to get into another beer from Shipyard Brewery.  It is their Ginger Bread Head.  If you read my earlier beer blog posts on their beers, you know the history of this East Coast craft brewery.  If you have not, please, read them to get to know this craft brewery.  Let us get into this ale.

It has a clear dark copper to amber color with a white head that disappears over time. The aroma has a sugar ginger notes.  The taste has a malty sweet notes with a ginger aftertaste. It is pretty drinkable beer.

In closing, this craft brewery has been trying to get the attention of the Michigan craft beer drinker.  They keep trying different things with their beers.  They are trying to make beers that might be the next new beer trends.  I know ginger root has been becoming the new trend in the beer world and mix drinkers.  It was a no brainier to see someone make a ginger bread beer.  I am not a huge fan but glad I try it.  I recommend this beer and I can see other beer drinkers love this beer.  Go get some!  Drink it!  Enjoy it!  Metal it!  \m/

New Beer Blog Sierra Nevada Ovila Abbey Quad Ale

In this beer blog, we are going to get into another special beer release from Sierra Nevada.  It is their Ovila Abbey series.  It is called Quad Ale.  If you read my earlier beer blog posts on their beers, you know the history of this west coast craft brewery.  If you have not, please, read them to get to know this California base craft brewery.  Let us get into Quad Ale.

It has a dark brown color with a tan to light brown constant head. The smell has a dark cherry notes. The taste has a heavy sweet cherry notes with a nice dark cherry aftertaste. It is kind of drinkable beer.

Closing, I always pick up anything new or anything in their Ovila Abbey series of beers.  I saw this gift set with three different ones.  It was a no brainier to pick this up.  Unfortunately, I only going to be posting on this beer.  I shared the other two with a few friends.  They were good beers. This beer that I am posting on is something else. They did an awesome job on this beer.  Quad has a nature black cherry notes.  I love the fact they put more cherries in this beer.  This beer is a cherry fan’s wet dream.  I highly recommend this beer.  Go get some!  Drink it!  Enjoy it!  Metal it!  \m/

New Beer Blog Tri-City Brewing Hefeweizen

It has a cloudy yellow color with a white constant head. The aroma has a nice banana notes. The taste has a nice refreshing to slight lemon with a heavy banana aftertaste. It is extremely drinkable beer.

New Beer Blog Stone Brewery Enjoy By Tangerine IPA

In this beer blog, we are going to get into another special release from Stone Brewery.  It is their Enjoy By Tangerine IPA.  If you read my earlier beer blog posts on their beers, you know the history of this California base craft brewery.  If you have not, please, read them to get to know this West Coast craft brewery.  Let us get into IPA.

It has a clear golden color with a white constant head. The aroma has a tangerine to juicey citrus notes. The taste has a nice juicey tangerine notes with a nice tangerine aftertaste. It is pretty drinkable beer.

In the end, the year of the fruit beer keeps on rolling.  Here is another fruit IPA.  It is coming from Stone Brewery.  I know this craft brewery never disappoints many of us craft beer drinkers.  I have to say they stepped up and made a better beer than New Belgium Citradelic IPA.  I am not saying it is better but if I had to drink this one.  I have to say Stone.  New Belgium one is a great beer and they make great craft brands.  I just like this one because of the ABV and that leads me to talk about a local one from Frankenmuth Brewery.  It is their Tangerinos IPA.  Just like the Stone, the ABV is around 9%.  Closing, there is nothing wrong with New Belgium along with these two beers.  They are all great beers and this is my thought.  I am getting more favor from Stone and Frankenmuth.  I highly recommend all these beers.  Go get some!  Drink it!  Enjoy it!  Metal it!  \m/

New Beer Blog Woodward Avenue Brewers Visit

In this beer blog, I had a chance to visit brewpub over the holiday weekend, which was Memorial Day.  I know it does not matter.  I visited the Woodward Avenue Brewpub also known as WAB.  It is located almost on the corner of Nine Mile and Woodward.  I am going to start with the history, beer, and other things.  Let us get into the history.

WAB opened their doors for the first time in 1997.  There is not much history that I can find on the web.  I believe they are first brewpub and brewery in the Ferndale area. Let us get into the beer.

There is a new brewmaster in place now.  The new brewmaster came from Green Bush Brewery.  If you live in the State of Michigan, you know everything about Green Bush Brewery.  They make some pretty solid beers.  Their Blonde Lager has been around since the start of this brewery.  It is a pretty solid beer.  They did an Imperial Blodne Ale.  The Imperial Blonde has some honey in it.  I am not a fan of Blonde Ales.  I can see many craft beer drinkers drinking this beer.  The word on the street was their new IPA.  It is Detroit Maiden IPA.  It is a pretty solid IPA.  I feel this beer is a work in process.  I do not mean this in a negative light.  Every good brewery is always looking to improve.  I feel this brewmaster is still working to improve all the beer and WAB themselves is making it happen.  They made a nice dry stout on nitro.  They are a little bit ahead of most craft breweries.  This is a solid stout and I rather drink this over Guinness.  There is a nice cream ale with Raspberries.  There is a Pale Ale.  Both are pretty solid beers.

Closing, this brewpub is starting to move in a good direction.  I know a few months back they loss their old brewmaster.  I was wondering who would replace him.  I have to say that I believe they picked the right guy.  He is just starting his tour but I have to say people are already talking about WAB.  I live on the west of Detroit.  If I am in the Ferndale area, I will stop in and have a few IPA’s.  The future is bright and I cannot wait to see what is up next.  I recommend this brewpub.  Go get some!  Drink it!  Enjoy it!  Metal it!  \m/

New Beer Blog Alaskan Brewery Kicker Session IPA

It has a clear golden color with a white constant head. The smell has a citrus notes. The taste has a light citrus notes with dry bitter hop aftertaste. It is extremely drinkable beer.

Closing, I am so done with Session IPA’s.  I am not going to blog about them and sample them anymore.  They are Pale Ales and that is that.  No more marketing gimmick. I accidentally picked up this beer. I am done after this beer style unless it says Pale Ale.  This is a pretty good version of a Pale Ale.  Death to the session IPA’s.  Drink it!  Not Enjoy it!  Metal it!  \m/

New Beer Blog Flying Dog Brewery Mint Julip Ale

It has a clear golden color with a white constant color head at first. The head disappears over time. The aroma has a light mint notes. The taste has a light refreshing minty notes. The aftertaste has a heavy mint note. It reminds mental cigarettes in a good way. It is a sipping beer.

Closing, I always pick up new beers that this craft brewery puts on the market.  I saw that they put out a few newer beers so you will see a few posts on this blog next day or so.  I love mints so I really enjoyed the aroma from this brew.  There is a nice balance in this beer.  It is nice refreshing beer for the spring and summer days.  I am not a fan of the heavy mint aftertaste.  It is OK. It is different and I will give them credit for that.  I recommend this beer to try it at least once.  Go get some!  Drink it!  Enjoy it!  Metal it!

New Beer Blog Ballast Point Brewing Mango Evan Keel

In this beer blog, we are going to sample another beer from Ballast Point Brewing.  We are going to sample a session IPA.  This will be second from last session IPA that will be featured on this blog.  We will feature Ballast Point Brewing Mango Evan Keel Session IPA.  If you read my earlier beer blog posts on their beers, you know the history of this west coast craft brewery.  If you have not, please, read them to get to know this California base craft brewery.  Let us get into this session IPA.

It has a slightly dark golden color to a light cooper color with a white constant head. The aroma has a citrus to heavy mango notes. The taste has a nice mango notes with a nice mango aftertaste. It is extremely drinkable beer.

In closing, I am a pretty big fan of Ballast Point Brewing.  I am done with Session IPA but mangoes are what made me buy this brew.  Session IPA’s are Pale Ales.  I am sick of the marketing gimmick.  I am not a fan. Ballast Point, please, call it a Pale Ale. I hate session IPA’s and this is the second frkm last one that I will try.  I recommend this beer.  Go get some!  Drink it!  Enjoy it!  Metal it!  \m/
