In this special beer camp blog, we are going to get into the last beer from Sierra Nevada’s  Beer Camp series.  It is called West Latitude Session Rye Ale.  If you read my earlier beer blog posts on their beers, you know the history of this California base craft  brewery.  If you have not, please, read them to get to know this craft brewery.  Let us get into this Rye Ale.

It has a clear ruby color with a white constant color head. The aroma has a sweet malty to rye notes.  The taste has a smooth sweet malt to rye notes with rye aftertaste. It is extremely drinkable beer.

West Latitude combines our Californian Left Coast love of fruity hops with a touch of Hawaiian “aloha” from the addition of hibiscus flowers, all anchored by robust malts and spicy rye. This session beer is light in body but looms large, like the long shadows of a westward setting sun.

In the end, Rye in beer needs to be done right for me.  I know how that sounds.  I love Rye ales.  I did not like this one for some odd reason.  It is a solid beer. I know others will like this brew.  It might be the malt grain that they used in this brew.  I am upset with myself because this brew was made by three of my favorite west coast craft breweries.  I cannot like everything that they put out.  I would be lying to myself.  I highly recommend this beer.  I know you will like it.  Go get some!  Drink it!  Enjoy it!  Metal it!  \m/
