In this beer blog, we are going to get into another special release from Right Brain Brewery.  It is another beer from their Boardroom CEO series.  It is their Peanut Butter CEO Stout.  If you read my earlier beer blog posts on their beers, you know the history of this Michigan base craft brewery.  If you have not, please, read them to get to know this Midwest craft brewery.  Let us get into this stout.

It has a jet black color with a constant tan color head. The aroma has a nice coffee with a slight chocolate notes. The taste has a chocolate to a heavy coffee notes with a peanut butter aftertaste. It is kind of drinkable beer.

Here is a description from their website (www.rightbrainbrewery.com):

Style: Peanut Butter Coffee Stout
ABV: 5.5%
Classic CEO Stout brewed with peanut butter made by Nothin’ But Nuts in Fenton, Michigan. Espresso flavors play perfectly with notes of roasty peanuts. WARNING: CONTAINS PEANUTS!

Here is their website and twitter addresses:

Website:  www.rightbrainbrewery.com

Twitter:  @rightbrainbrew

Ending, I have been talking to the brewery about this line of beers.  They told me this is by far best selling of the four beers in this series.  I can see why it is.  It is not over the top on the peanut butter but I feel it is pretty thin and weak.  I just wish it was stronger but I can see people loving it the way it is.  I like it.  I highly recommend this beer.  Go get some!  Drink it!  Enjoy it!  Metal it!  \m/

Cheers!

In the end, it is about time that Right Brain Brewery did different version of their CEO Stout.  I was pretty happy to see their Boardroom CEO series come out and I jumped on it right away.  I love it.  It does not taste like an imperial stout, which is pretty scary.  It is about 9% ABV but drinks like 5% ABV.  I highly recommend this beer.  Go get some!  Drink it!  Enjoy it!  Metal it!  \m/

Cheers!

New Beer Blog Right Brain Brewery Barrel Aged CEO Stout

image

In this special beer blog, we are going to get into a special and limited release from Right Brain Brewery.  Right Brain took their best selling beer, which is CEO Stout, and did different version of this beer.  If you read my earlier beer blog posts on their beers, you know the history of this craft brewery.  If you have not, please, read them to get to know this Michigan craft brewery.  Let us get into this stout.

It has a jet black color with a constant tan color head. The aroma has a heavy coffee with oak to bourbon notes. The taste of this coffee stout has a whiskey to bourbon with a creamy chocolate to coffee notes. The aftertaste has a bourbon finish with a slight alcohol burn. It is a sipping beer.

Here is their website and twitter addresses:

Website:  www.rightbrainbrewery.com

Twitter:  @rightbrainbrew

Closing, I was waiting for this craft brewery to do something like this to their CEO Stout.  I was pretty excited to see the line up.  I had to try the bourbon one first.  There is a nice balance on this beer.  The barrel did not over take the coffee.  They did a great job on this beer.  I like it. It is pretty complex tasting notes. I did not know how a coffee stout aged in whiskey barrels would have came out. I highly recommend this beer.  Go get some!  Drink it!  Enjoy it!  Metal it!  \m/

Cheers!

New Beer Blog Motor City Brewing Motown Lager

image

In this beer blog, we are going to get into the third beer from Motor City Brewing in the last few days.  It is their Motown Lager.  If you read my earlier beer blog posts on their beers, you know the history of this Midwest craft brewery.  If you have not, please, read them to get to know this Detroit craft brewery. Let us get into this Lager.

It has a clear golden color with a white constant head. The aroma has a sweet corn to earthy notes. The taste has an earthly malty with slight hop notes. The aftertaste has a dry crisp aftertaste. It is pretty drinkable beer.

Here is a description from their website (www.motorcitybeer.com):

ABV: 5.2%

IBU: 18

Here is their website and twitter addresses:

Website:  www.motorcitybeer.com

Twitter:  @motorcitybeer

In the end, as many of you know, I am always looking for the perfect or near perfect craft Lager.  If I see a craft Lager that I did not had yet, I pick it up.  This one was pretty east because it was in their Tool Box Sampler pack.  This is not the best craft Lager but it was not the worse.  It is right in the middle.  It had everything that a lager drinker is looking for with corn notes etc.  This is by far the best beer that this craft brewery makes. I like it. This is so much better than their Ghettoblaster.  There is always a cheaper beer with the same notes.  I recommend this beer at least once.  Go get some!  Drink it!  Enjoy it!  Metal it!  \m/

Cheers!

New Beer Blog Goose Island 4 Star Pils

image

In this beer blog, we are going to get a new beer, which is 4 Star Pilsner, from Goose Island Brewery.  When this beer was first released it was known as Blue Line Pils.  If you read my earlier beer blog posts on their beers, you know the history of this Chicago base craft brewery.

It has a clear golden color with a white constant head on this pilsner.   There is really no smell. It is hard to pick up. The taste has a slight sweet malty to a dry crisp hop aftertaste. It is extremely drinkable.

Here is their website and twitter addresses:

Website:  www.gooseisland.com

Twitter:  @gooseisland

Here is a description from their website (www.gooseisland.com):

This golden-hued pilsner has a light, fresh body and clean finish. Bright, refreshing carbonation mingles with German and American hops to give this pilsner a unique Goose Island spin.

Recipe Information

  • Style: Pilsner
  • Alcohol by Volume: 5.1%
  • International Bitterness Units: 44
  • Color: Light Golden
  • Hops: Meridian, Equinox, Mt. Hood

Here is their website and twitter addresses:

Website:  www.gooseisland.com

Twitter:  @gooseisland

Closing, I am not a huge fan of pilsners. Just like lagers, I am always looking for the best craft pilsner.  I believe 4 Star Pils is in my top three best craft pilsners.  I am fan of Rochester Mills Pine Knob Pils.  Goose Island did a great job matching the classic beer style.  I know there will be people that will love this beer.  I can see others hating this beer.  This is a pretty good brew.  It all comes down to the price.  There is cheaper and good pilsners and lagers on the market.  I highly recommend this beer.  Go get some!  Drink it!  Enjoy it!  Metal it!  \m/

Cheers!

New Beer Blog Motor City Brewing Tripel Ale

image

In this beer blog, we are going to get into another beer from Motor City Brewing.  It is their Tripel Ale.  If you read my earlier beer blog posts on their beers, you know history of this Michigan base craft brewery.  If you have not, please, read them to get to know this Detroit craft brewery.  Let us get into this Tripel Ale.

It has a cloudy golden color without head. The aroma has a Belgian spice notes. The taste has a banana to fruit notes. The aftertaste has a heavy banana notes. It is a sipping beer.

Here is a description from their website (www.motorcitybeer.com):

Tripel is a classic Belgian style golden ale, with a perfect balance of delicate fruit esters and subtle spicy notes.

ABV: 9.2%

OG: 10.5

Here is their website and twitter addresses:

Website:  www.motorcitybeer.com

Twitter:  @motorcitybeer

Ending, I give all craft breweries credit for trying to brew a beer.  I do not like when they put out a beer that is so bad.  They do not even thinking about redoing the beer to make it better.  This craft brewery needs to stop by a craft brewery or a Belgium brewery to learn how to brew one of these great beers.  Sorry, I am not a fan.  Just think, this is a beer that pushed me to buy this sampler pack.  Go get some!  Drink it!  Enjoy it!  Metal it!  \m/

Cheers!

New Beer Blog Motor City Brewing Honey Porter

image

In this beer blog, we are going to get into second beer from Motor City in the last few days.  It is their Honey Porter.  If you read my earlier beer blog posts on their beers, you know the history of this Detroit craft brewery.  If you have not, please, read them to get to know this Midwest craft brewery.  Let us get this honey porter.

It has a jet black color with a constant tan like color head. The smell has a slight chocolate to honey notes. The taste has a smooth chocolate to slight honey notes. The aftertaste has a chocolate cover honey finish. It is a pretty drinkable beer.

Here is a description from their website (www.motorcitybeer.com):

Motor City Honey Porter is a full bodied, creamy dark ale with a distinct roasted malt flavor and chocolate overtones. A touch of pure Michigan clover honey adds a subtle sweetness to this smooth, well balanced ale.

ABV: 5.2%

OG: 1.048

IBU: 26

Here is their website and twitter addresses:

Website:  www.motorcitybeer.com

Twitter:  @motorcitybeer

Ending, I love honey beers not meads as much.  I am talking honey brown ales, stouts, porters etc.  I am pretty excited to see this one  in the sampler pack.  I was hoping to find good beer from this craft brewery.  I am starting to see a theme from this brewery.  I am not getting much of honey notes in the aroma and taste profile. I am pretty disappointed. It is just like their Nut Brown Ale.  It is thin to almost water down.  It is like the Michelob and Leinenkugel beer line.  I am glad I tried it at least once.  I recommend this beer at least once.   This is my thought pattern.  Go get some!  Drink it!  Enjoy it!  Metal it!  \m/

Cheers!

New Beer Blog Motor City Brewing Nut Brown Ale

image

In this beer blog, we are going to get into another brew from Motor City Brewery.  It is their Nut Brown Ale, which is a classic English style Nut Brown Ale.  If you read my earlier beer blog posts on their beers, you know the history of this Detroit base craft brewery.  If you have not, please, read them to get to know this Michigan craft brewery.  Let us get into this brown ale.

It has a dark brown color with a white head that disappears over time. The aroma has a sweet to dry malty nutty notes. The taste has a dry to roasted nutty notes. The aftertaste has a slight dry nutty notes. It is pretty drinkable beer.

Here is a description from their website (www.motorcitybeer.com):

Motor City Nut Brown Ale has a wonderful toasted nutty character and malty nose, derived from our special blend of roasted malts balanced with American aromatic hops for a long, clean finish.

ABV: 5.2%

OG: 1.048

IBU: 26

Here is their website and twitter addresses:

Website:  www.motorcitybeer.com

Twitter:  @motorcitybeer

In the end, you see their beer everywhere you go in the City of Detroit.  It is mainly their Ghettoblaster Mild Ale.  You do not see any of their other brands on the shelf.  Maybe their IPA or sometimes their seasonals.  You do see their sampler pack.  This is where I picked up this beer.  The aroma on this beer is the best part.  The taste profile is pretty thin.  I am not a fan.  I am glad that I tried it once.  I believe you should try it once but this is my thought pattern.  Go get some!  Drink it!  Enjoy it!  Metal it!  \m/

Cheers!

New Beer Blog Atwater Brewery Black & Cran Bourbon Barrel Cranberry Impartial Stout

image

In this beer blog, we are going to get into another beer from Atwater Brewery.  It is Black & Cran Stout.  If you had read my earlier beer blog posts on their beers, you know the history of this Detroit base craft brewery.  If you have not, please, read them to get to know this Michigan craft brewery.  Let us get into this stout.

It has a jet black color with a tan color head at first. It disappears over time. The aroma has a chocolate to slight cranberry notes. There is a nice earthly oak notes. The taste has a chocolate cover cranberry notes at first, however, it finishes with a heavy cranberry aftertaste. I do pick up a slight oak note. There is not much in this beer from barrel in taste profile. This is a sipping beer.

Here is their website and twitter addresses:

Website: www.atwaterbeer.com

Twitter:  @atwaterbeer

Ending, I know that I told everyone out there that I was not going to pick up anymore of their beers.  I am holding to true to to that unless they have a special and very limited beer release.   This is why I picked up this brew.  I like Imperial Stouts.   I am not a huge fan of cranberries but I can live with them.  First thing first, I wished this craft brewery would have taken a little time making a great Russian Imperial Stout.  The base of this beer is that that beer style.  I have to say it is below average version.  It makes this beer overall pretty below average. I am not a fan and not worth the price.  If you see it, try to buy a single bottle.  I do not think you will be happy after buying a six-pack.  Go get some!  Drink it!  Enjoy it!  Metal it!  \m/

Cheers!

New Beer Blog Rochester Mills 12 Days Of Milkshake Stout (2015)

Rochester Mills now has 11 distribution deals in Michigan, close to ...

In this special beer blog, we are going to get into a holiday tradition around the Michigan area with Rochester Mills Beer Company.  It is their 12 Days Of Milkshake Stout.  They are making 12 different versions of their milk stout.  They are using the play on words of 12 Days Of Christmas.  They have been doing this for 2 years now and I know many people are looking forward to it.  I know I was introduced to it when visiting Ashley’s in Westland last year.  If you read my earlier beer blog posts on their beers, you know the history of this Michigan craft brewery.  If you have not, please, read them to get to know this Midwest craft brewery.  Let us get into these stouts.

image

This year the start date was December 9th and went to the 20th.  Each day, the bar or restaurant will tap one beer a day.  For example, the photo shows us what the stouts that will be feature in this year’s 12 Days Of Milkshake Stout.  It will go in order so the first one is Chocolate Cheesecake.  I do not take any tasting notes so I will do my best on these beers. Here is the order of how I liked them.  Here is my ranking:

  1. Cinnamon Roll
  2. Chocolate Cheesecake
  3. Blueberry Pancake
  4. German Chocolate Cake
  5. Bourbon Barrel Aged
  6. Imperial
  7. Toasted Marshmallow
  8. Chunky Money
  9. Christmas Toffee
  10. Peach Cobbler
  11. Creme de Menthe
  12. Vanilla Mocha

I am not saying that the ones at the bottom are bad beers.  They are great but I liked Cinnamon Roll over than the Vanilla Mocha.  I know from last year they brought back only six and put six new ones in this year’s 12 Days.  They have everything going on that would make just about everyone happy.

Here is their website and twitter addresses:

Website:  www.beercos.com

Twitter:  @Rochmillsbeerco

Closing, since moving back from Chicago, I have been always looking for this beer event.  I love my stouts and this is the best milk stout on the market.  They took their milk stout and did different version of this great beer.  They keep the six favorites and change the other six.  It is not the same stouts each year.  I believe that what this beer event special.  Rochester Mills Brewery out did themselves this year.  I highly recommend all these beers.  Go get some!  Drink it!  Enjoy it!  Metal it! \m/

Cheers!
