New Beer Blog Black Tooth Brewing Saddle Bronc Brown Ale

In this beer blog, we are going to get into the first beer from Black Tooth Brewing.  It is their Saddle Bronc Brown Ale.  This Wyoming base craft brewery has started in 2010.  They put all their beers in cans.  They have four flagship beers and several seasonals.  Travis Zeilstra, who is co-founder and head brewer, started the company in a 10 barrel system.  Later on, Black Tooth Brewery opened a new brewery capable of 50,000 barrel system a year.  Let us get into this brown ale.

It has a dark brown color with white color head. The smell has a sweet malty to slight toffee notes. The taste has a sweet to dry toffee notes with dry toffee aftertaste. It is kind of drinkable beer.

Here is a description from their website (www.blacktoothbrewingcompany.com):

An English-style brown ale with a malt profile of caramel, toffee and cocoa. A dark ale that is well rounded with a malty sweet flavor with clean finish.

In the end, I am not surprise to hear there is a craft brewery in Wyoming.  Once again, I was not shocked to see their beers pop in my beer of the month.  I am pretty much a fan of brown ales.  It is a good brown ale but not for me.  I am just not a fan of this brown ale.  It is a good one just something about it.  I recommend it.  Go get some!  Drink it!  Enjoy it!  Metal it!  \m/

Cheers!

In this beer blog, we are going to sample another brew from Tri-City Brewery.  It is their Brownhoist Nut Brown Ale.  If you read my earlier beer blog posts on their beers, you know the history of this Midwest craft brewery.  If you have not, please, read them to get to know this Michigan base craft brewery.  Let us get into this

It has a dark brown color with a tan constant color head. The aroma has a sweet malty with nutty notes. The taste has a sweet malty to nutty notes with a nutty aftertaste. It is a pretty drinkable beer.

In the end, ever since Goose Island stop making their Nut Brown ale, I have been looking for a nice crafr English style Nut Brown Ale.  I know that I could just pick up Samuel Smith Nut Brown Ale.  I want a nice United States Craft Nut Brown Ale.  I believe that I have found my Nut Brown Ale and it comes from a small craft brewery in Michigan.  This is a nice Nut Brown Ale.  Tri-City Brewery did a great job on this beer.  It is almost like they brewed it in Europe and brought it back over.  I highly recommend this beer.  Go get some!  Drink it!  Enjoy it!  Metal it!  \m/

Cheers!

New Beer Blog Motor City Brewing Nut Brown Ale

image

In this beer blog, we are going to get into another brew from Motor City Brewery.  It is their Nut Brown Ale, which is a classic English style Nut Brown Ale.  If you read my earlier beer blog posts on their beers, you know the history of this Detroit base craft brewery.  If you have not, please, read them to get to know this Michigan craft brewery.  Let us get into this brown ale.

It has a dark brown color with a white head that disappears over time. The aroma has a sweet to dry malty nutty notes. The taste has a dry to roasted nutty notes. The aftertaste has a slight dry nutty notes. It is pretty drinkable beer.

Here is a description from their website (www.motorcitybeer.com):

Motor City Nut Brown Ale has a wonderful toasted nutty character and malty nose, derived from our special blend of roasted malts balanced with American aromatic hops for a long, clean finish.

ABV: 5.2%

OG: 1.048

IBU: 26

In the end, you see their beer everywhere you go in the City of Detroit.  It is mainly their Ghettoblaster Mild Ale.  You do not see any of their other brands on the shelf.  Maybe their IPA or sometimes their seasonals.  You do see their sampler pack.  This is where I picked up this beer.  The aroma on this beer is the best part.  The taste profile is pretty thin.  I am not a fan.  I am glad that I tried it once.  I believe you should try it once but this is my thought pattern.  Go get some!  Drink it!  Enjoy it!  Metal it!  \m/

Cheers!

New Blog New Glarus Brewing Fat Squirrel Ale

image

In this beer blog, we are going to take a look at seven beers from New Glarus Brewing.  Here is a little history of this great Midwest Brewery.  New Glarus Brewing Company was founded in 1993 by Deborah and Dan Carey in New Glarus, Wisconsin.  They are 21st largest Craft Brewery and 32nd largest brewery in the United States.  This brewery has won several awards for their beers.  They brew several different beer styles and their flagship is their Spotted Cow.  We are going to get into their Fat Squirrel first.  Let us check out this brew.

The beer has a clear brown color without a head on it.  The smell is a sweet maple malty to the beer. The taste is sweet malty and maple to it. The aftertaste is a hazelnut to it. It is a pretty drinkable for being a brown ale.

Here is a description from the beer bottle and their website (www.newglarusbrewing.com):

One deceptively springlike winter day, Brewmaster Dan walked hom from the brewery, sat down to dinner and said, “Boy there are some fat squirrels out there.  They’re running all over the place.  I think I should brew a Fat Squirrel Nut Brown Ale.”  Deb agreed and so another beer legend was born.

100% Wisconsin malt of six different varieties impart the natural toasted color to this bottle conditioned unfiltered ale.  Clean hazelnut notes result from these carefully chosen barely malts.  Hops from Slovenia, Bavaria and the Pacific Northwest give Fat Squirrel its backbone.

When the going gets tough remember to relax a moment and enjoy the “Fat Squirrel” in your neighborhood.  Truly yours, Daniel & Deborah Carey

In closing, I really enjoyed this beer.  It is a little different from the rest of the Brown Ales that are in the market.  I really enjoyed the classic craft brown ales like Brooklyn Brown Ale.  This one has a really good twist to it.  There is other notes you do not get from the rest of the brown ales like a little caramel, which you will get from other brown ales, and maple notes.  I love brown ale and I have to say this Nut Brown Ale or should I say Fat Squirrel Ale is one of my favorite Brown Ale along with Brooklyn Brown.  Thanks to my friend for bring it down to Chicago for me to try it and blog about it.  This beer is worth a trip up to Wisconsin to try this beer out.  Go get some!  Drink it!  Enjoy it!  Metal it!  \m/

Cheers!
