New Beer Blog Milwaukee Brewing Double IPA

While in Milwaukee again, I was up in Milwaukee to see my friends from Milwaukee Brewing.  The name of the beer is called Dark Matter.  If you have read my earlier beer blog on their Pull Chain, you know the history of this brewery.  If you have not, please, read the first part of that beer blog.  Let us get into the beer.

This Double IPA has a golden to amber color with a white head.  There is not a smell to the beer.  It is hard to smell in while on the brewery tour.  It has a sweet silky citrus taste without aftertaste. It is extremely drinkable beer for being a big beer.

In closing, I do not know if this is one I had back in the fall but this Double IPA is amazing.  I really enjoyed the one in the fall and I loved this one too.  It was hard to smell the beer in the brewery so if there is a smell I am sorry I did not pick it up.  I love the taste of the hops and the balance of the malty backbone.  This was a smooth Double IPA.  Uinta Detour Double IPA is my favorite but I have to say this one sets the standards for me for some double IPA’s in the Midwest Breweries.  I wish this was in bottle or cans.  I hope they do it in the future.  Go get some!  Drink it!  Enjoy it!  Metal it!  \m/

New Blog Ale Asylum Satisfaction Jacksin Double IPA

Starting new tab, I will be featuring three beers from Ale Asylum in the next three posts.  The first beer is called Satisfaction Jacksin Double IPA.  Ale Asylum was founded in 2005 in Madison, Wisconsin.  They brew several ale styles.  There is barely any information on this brewery on the web.  Let us get into this ale.

This double IPA has a dark copper color without a head on the beer.  It has a nice pineapple smell to the beer.  It has a weird taste to the beer. It has a little pineapple and then some citrus to it.  The beer has earthly to the taste. It is really balance with a nice malty backbone. It is extremely drinkable for being a Double IPA.

Three pounds of Centennial hops per barrel give our double IPA a slightly punishing yet entirely pleasing bitterness that dances on t he tongue.  Jacksin is unfiltered and all natural for superior flavor and quality.  It is brewed with passion and is best enjoyed that way.

Satisfaction Jacksin is a full frontal assault on the taste buds. The massive amounts of Centennial hops don’t tickle the taste buds as much as they beat them into submission. If hops make you hide and bitterness sends you cowering in the corner, steer clear of this hop monster. Pleasure? Check. Pain? Check. Satisfaction? Jacksin.

Raise Your Glass, this beer is pretty good but I will rotate it in and out of my regular line up of beer, if it was availabe in the Chicago Market.  I had a friend bring me some bottles down from Wisconsin.  I never heard of this brewery and it turns out that they are a very young brewery.  I recommend you trying this brew and let me know what you think.  I might have to make a trip up to Madison, Wisconsin some time soon.  Go get some!  Drink it!  Enjoy it!  Metal it!  \m/

New Blog Central Waters Illumination Double IPA

In this blog, we are going to take a look at a beer from a small brewery from Amherst, WI called Central Waters.  This brewery is powered by solar power.  They are very green on everything with packaging and energy use.  This brewery has been in business since 1996.  Mike McElwain and Jerome Ebel are the founders of this brewery.  Their packaging is very dull and boring, however, we do not judge on packing just the beer inside.  They brew several different styles. The one we will be talking from Central Waters called Illumination Double IPA (India Pale Ale).

This beer in the glass is a cloudy light copper color.  When smelling it, you will get a strong piny smell from the hops in the brew.  As far as tasting the beer, it is over load of circus to earthy sweetest with a very dry aftertaste leaving in your mouth.  I really do not like this beer because several factors.  The one thing I do not like, there is not enough malt backbone in this beer.  The other thing I do not like about this beer is the over hop in the beer.  This beer is another cookie cutter of all the rest of American Double IPAs out there.  I am not saying all are bad but there are better ones out there.  However, after killing this beer, the plus for this beer is it is a great value for the price you will be paying for it.

Setting up the bill, this is not a beer I will run out and get when it comes out.  It is a seasonal four pack from Central Waters.  If I am in the mood and I see it, I will drink it.  If there is another Double IPA at the bar, I hate to say I will drink that.  Just because I did not like this beer.  This does not mean that you will not like this beer.  This brewery cannot be judge on this beer and you should not judge them for this beer nor blog.  They do brewery some awesome beers.  This one is not one of their best ones.  Enjoy it! Drink it!  Metal it!
