New Beer Blog Sierra Nevada Brewery Hop Hunter IPA

In this beer blog, we are going to get into a new beer and new technique to brew an IPA from Sierra Nevada Brewery. It is called Hop Hunter IPA. If you read earlier beer blog posts on their beers, you know the history of this west coast craft brewery. If you have not, please, read them to get to know Sierra Nevada Brewery. Let us get into this IPA.

It has a clear golden color with small not constant bubbles. There is a nice white constant head. The aroma has an earthly to hop oil notes. The hop bitterest will burn the craft beer drinker’s nose. The taste has an earthly to evergreen notes. The aftertaste has a hop bitter finish. It is pretty drinkable beer.

Closing, when I heard what Sierra Nevada Brewery was doing for their new IPA, I said WHAT?!?!?!? I have to say I was pretty stun between the taste profile and aroma. You can smell the hop oil and I believe this will start a new trend in the craft beer world. I love this beer. This beer is one of my favorite IPA’s in the beer market. This is a great IPA but it is still not a Goose Island IPA. I have that beer as my #1 IPA. I have to say this beer is not that far off. Sierra Nevada is my #1 brewery to get my IPA fixed. New Beer Blog Une Année Brewery Maya Belgian Imperial India Pale Ale

In this beer blog, we are going to get into one of my favorite craft brewery from Chicago. It is Une Année Brewery and it is Maya Belgian Imperial India Pale Ale. If you read my earlier beer blog posts on their stout, you know the history of this young and upcoming craft brewery. If you have not, please, read it to get to this Chicago base craft brewery. Let us get into this Imperial IPA.

It has a cloudy copper color with a white constant head. The smell has a slight citrus notes. The taste has a funky sweet citrus notes with slight carbonation notes. The aftertaste has a sweet malty to citrus notes. It is pretty drinkable beer.

Closing, I am so happy to see this craft brewery having some success and start moving their beers out of the Chicagoland area. I love the name of this craft brewery. It is the French word for one year. There is some nice packaging. They did a great job color and aroma. There is a nice balance in the taste profile. I love it and it is pretty drinking brew. New Beer Blog Stone Brewing Delicious IPA

In this beer blog, we are going to sample Stone Brewing Delicious IPA. This is one of the newer beers from this west coast craft beer legend. If you read my earlier beer blog posts on their beers, you know the history of Stone Brewing. If you have not, please, read them to get to know this west coast craft brewery. Let us get into this IPA.

It has a clear golden to a light copper color with a white constant head. The aroma has a Lemon Drop candy like smell. The taste has a slight lemonish notes but a heavy grass to weed notes. The aftertaste has a heavy weed like notes along with the dry bitter finish. It is kind of drinkable beer.

Closing, I am a sucker for new beers and even more for new IPA’s. I had to pick up this beer from Stone Brewing. I know there are so many new and different IPA’s on market and Stone Brewing has made so many to hit the market. Why another IPA to the market? It is pretty simple. New hops hit the market and they do different things to the aroma and taste profile of beer. This one has a nice balance with a nice malty backbone. I love it. I will be getting more of it. This is a limited release and kind of seasonal beer. I hope this become an everyday brew. I highly recommend this beer. Go get some! Drink it! Enjoy it! Metal it! \m/

In closing, Just what I said in my last blog about their brown ale, I am so happy that they finally made it to the Michigan market. This brew was one of my go to IPA’s when I lived in the Chicago market. This is one of my favorite IPA’s. I was so happy to see them make it to the Michigan market. When I left the Chicago market, I was sad to leave many of my favorite brews and breweries. Why I like this beer? It is pretty simple. It is not overall bitter and hoppy but it has enough for this hopheads. I could drinking this beer in any season. I hope cans make it to this market soon. I highly recommend this beer. Go get some! New Beer Blog Dark Horse Brewing Double Crooked Tree India Pale Ale

In this beer blog, we are going to get into a special release from Dark Horse Brewery. It is their Double Crooked Tree IPA. It has a cloudy copper color with a constant white head on this double IPA. The aroma has a heavy citrus notes. The taste has a heavy citrus notes with extremely heavy bitter finish for the aftertaste. This is a nice sipping brew.

DOUBLE CROOKED TREE IPA

Have you read the description for the regular Crooked Tree yet? Well this beer is almost the same just double the flavor and alcohol. We actually took the Crooked Tree recipe and doubled all of the ingredients except the water, just the way a DOUBLE should be made. Big hops balanced with tons of malt give this beer a huge body. Although this beer is as cool as “The Fonz” when first purchased, it gets really mellow and smooth with some age. After a year or two stored in a cool dark place you’ll notice the heavy caramel and malt flavors are trying to sneak past the hops. This beer is hugely delicious so it will need your undivided attention (the chores can wait….trust us).

Ending, I have always been a fan of IPA’s and Double or Imperial IPA. It was a no brainer to pick up a bottle of Dark Horse Brewery Double Crooked Tree IPA. This is a pretty heavy beer and they did it right. You will not be doing anything else the rest of the day after drinking this beer. I love it. I will try to get more but since it is pretty limited, it will be hard to find more bottles. I highly recommend this beer. They did a great job on this brew. Go get some! Drink it! Enjoy it! It has a slightly cloudy golden color with a white constant head. There is no aroma. The taste has a heavy dry hop bitter with a sweet citrus notes. The aftertaste has a light tropical notes finish. It is pretty drinkable for imperial IPA. It is really a sipping beer.

Closing, this beer was kind of hard to find. I am pretty happy to find this brew. I will say that this beer was not disappointing at all. It lived up for the beer hunt. I love this beer. They did a great job. There is a nice balance but it has a nice punch to help aid towards food pairing. It would go perfectly with hot wings for example but the hops and bitterness will bring out the heat out more. This is a great beer to enjoy by itself. I highly recommend this beer. New Beer Blog Rogue Brutal India Pale Ale

In this beer blog, we are going to get into our first review of a Rogue Brewery beer. It is their Brutal India Pale Ale. It is the official beer for Rogue Nation. Rogue Ales was founded in 1988 in Ashland, Oregon. They have three brewpubs in three different states. They are known for their Dead Guy Ale, which is a maibock. They are known to push the limits of beer. Let us get into this IPA.

It has a cloudy copper color with semi on white head. The smell has a heavy citrus notes. The taste of this medium body has a nice citrus notes with a dry hoppy bitter aftertaste. It is pretty drinkable beer.

In the end, I did not know how I felt about his beer. It has pretty cool packaging and it is just their normal IPA to me. It is a great beer. I guess I would understand this beer a little bit more if I visit Rogue Nation. A few years ago, I was in their backyard and I did not get a chance to stop by their brewery. I hope one day to visit them. I love it. There is a nice balance from the aroma to the aftertaste. There is a nice pretty color. I believe if you are a hophead, you should at least try this beer. New Beer Blog Brooklyn Brewery Blast Ale

In this beer blog, we are going to sample a brew that I have been searching for the last few years. I even tried to trade with a friend on the east coast. He could not find it last year. I believe he did not want to share. I am talking about Brooklyn Blast Ale, which is Double IPA. If you read my earlier beer blog posts on their beers, you know the history of this east coast craft brewery. If you have not, please, read them to get to know Brooklyn Brewery. Let us get into this Double IPA.

It has a slightly cloudy copper color with a white head on this double IPA. The smell has a citrus notes that shines strong in this brew. The taste has a strong malty backbone that let the citrus notes shine bright in this ale. The aftertaste has a dry hop finish. It is a nice sipping beer.

Closing, I am not a huge fan of Brooklyn Brewery but I respect them from where they were and what they have done so far. They brew more of the traditional beer styles. It is fine. I love their Pilsner and Brown ale in their everyday line up. I was pretty happy to see Blast! as an everyday beer. It is a smart move with the growth of IPA’s. I love it. There is a nice balance and does not drink like a double IPA. This is what makes beer pretty special. This is one of their best beers asides their chocolate stout. I highly recommend. Go get some! New Beer Blog Lagunitas Brown Shugga’ (2014)

It has a nice copper to bronze color with a small white bubble head color. The smell has a sweet malty to alcohol notes. The taste has a sweet malty to slight but faded alcohol notes. The aftertaste has a dry hoppy bitter finish. It is kind of drinkable beer.

Closing, this is a pretty unique beer. It has a nice color and appearance. The packaging is a nice just like all the rest of their beers. It is pretty hard to explain this beer. I know that I love it. I look forward to every year it is released. There is some nice malty notes along with some alcohol notes. It is pretty drinkable for the ABV. I highly recommend this beer. New Beer Blog Foothills Brewing Hoppyum IPA

In this beer blog, we are going to sample a beer from a brewery that I have been trying to get a bottle. I have to say thanks to Mike and Mike for the share. I am talking about Foothills Brewing and it is their Hoppyum IPA. Foothills Brewing was founded in 2005. They are located in the State of North Carolina. There is not much history on their website and the web. Let us get into this India Pale Ale.

It is a clear copper color with a white constant head on this IPA. The aroma has a malty to earthly notes. The taste has a malty to earthly notes with a heavy bitter aftertaste. It is pretty good drinkable IPA.

Closing, I am so happy that I was able to get a bottle to finally enjoy this brew. It says on the bottle it is an American IPA. I do not look at it as an American IPA. I bet they use American yeast so they are kind of forced to call it American IPA. It is not hoppy enough for me to call it American IPA. Craft Breweries can call their beers whatever they want. I respect that. I view this beer as a nice English IPA. I love it for it’s nice taste profile. The aftertaste is extremely bitter that is where they can call it American IPA. Overall, it is a great brand. If you are able to get this beer, go get some! Drink it! Enjoy it! Metal it! \m/
