New Lake Placid Craft Brewing Ubu Ale

In this beer blog, Lake Placid Craft Brewing Ubu Ale is being featured on this posted. This is one of my brews from my latest Beer Of The Month. If you read my earlier beer blog on this brewery, you are up to speed with this brewery. If you have not read it, please, read that beer blog to get to know this great New York State brewery. Let us get into a beer that President Clinton use to order cases to the White House when he was in office.

It has a beautiful brown color without a head on this English Strong Ale. There is really no smell but maybe a strong malty to it. The taste is a carbonation sweet burn malty with dry aftertaste. This is a sipping beer to relax and watch television.

The mountain village of Lake Placid was once home to a legendary chocolate lab named Ubu, the biggest dog you’ve ever seen with an uncanny nose for great beer. Closing out, the last time I had this brewery’s brews was from my Beer Of The Month that was months ago. When I did had them, I fall in love with their beers. I really wanted to try this brew and I was a little upset it was not part of my last Beer Of The Month. I was pretty happy to see their Amber and Ubu Ale in this Beer Of The Month. It has a great story with one of our presidents enjoying this beer while in office. I have to say this beer did not let me down. It has a nice malty snap but just enough hops to make it a great brew. New Beer Blog Sea Dog India Pale Ale

In this beer blog, we are going to get into a beer I received from my Beer Of The Month. The brewery and the beer is called Sea Dog Brewery India Pale Ale. Sea Dog Brewery was founded in 1992 in the State of Maine. The brewery was named after a dog called Barney, which is no longer with the brewery. They brew several different beer styles and have several location around the Portland, Maine area. Let us get into the beer.

It has a deep copper color with a semi white head on the beer. The smell is a citrus to a little malty to this India Pale Ale. The taste of this full body beer is a carbonation citrus with a sweet dry aftertaste. It is a pretty drinkable IPA.

OLD EAST INDIA PALE ALE

Fashioned after the famous ales from Burton-On-Trent which took on such bold character after surviving the long, rolling voyage from London to Calcutta in the days of the Empire. This is an amber-colored masterpiece in the world of beer styles.

In closing, there is not too many good English style India Pale Ales on the market. I know this brewery is in the Chicago Market but I never see their India Pale Ale. It is pretty balance and well hopped. I have to say I love the story and history of this brewery. It is a really cool story. I wish I could find more of their beer in the Chicago market. New Beer Blog New Glarus Brewing Two Women

In this beer blog, we are going to sample another beer from New Glarus Brewing Company. The beer called Two Women Lager. If you read my earlier beer blog on their beers, you know the history of this brewery. If you have not, please, read that beer blog post to get know this brewery. Let us get into the beer.

This lager has a beautiful copper color without a head on it. There is a lager malt smell to the beer. The taste is a carbonation malty with lager finish to light hoppy aftertaste. This is a pretty drinkable beer.

Ending, I am not a huge fan of craft lagers. This is a pretty balance and drinkable beer. I was pretty impressed and I am glad I had a chance to try this beer. This is a pretty good craft lager. New Beer Blog New Glarus Brewing Apple Ale

This apple ale is a hazel copper color without a head on the beer. The smell is an apple cider to the beer. The taste is a carbonation sweet apple cider beer. The aftertaste is a carbonation cider to the beer. It is a pretty drinkable beer.

In closing, this is what apple ales should taste like in the beer market. This is a great beer and it is pretty well balance. I really enjoyed this beer very much. It has a cider beer style to it. I know Miller Brewery Company put out their apple ale called Redd’s. The beer is carbonation apple juice beer. New Glarus Brewing did a great job on this beer and this is the apple ale to be drinking. Go get some! Drink it! Enjoy it! Metal it! \m/

New Beer Blog Dogfish Brewery 90 Minute Imperial IPA

In this beer blog, we are going to get another beer from the Dogfish Head Brewery. The beer is called 90 Minute Imperial IPA. If you have read my earlier blogs on their beers, you know the history of this brewery. If you have not read them, please, read those blogs to get to know this brewery. Dogfish Head Brewery is pretty well-known so you might be up to speed on this brewery. Let us get the beer.

It has a clear copper color with a white head on the beer. The smell is earthly. The taste is earthy with a touch of malts. The aftertaste has a dry with a touch of earthy notes. It is a pretty drinkable beer for being a big beer.

What you have here is an Imperial India Pale Ale featuring a single, constant 90-minute hop addition. It’s balanced by a ridiculous amount of English Two-row Barley. Then we dry-hop it in every tank.

In closing, I do enjoy this beer. This is a pretty good beer. I just feel like most of the beers from this brewery is overpriced. I am not saying this is a bad beer. It is a pretty good beer and for Imperial IPA it is a pretty drinkable beer. There are several Imperial India Pale Ale just feel like they are extremely over hopped. There are several that are not drinkable beer. This Imperial India Pale Ale from Dogfish Head Brewery is pretty balance and drinkable. The key is it makes the hop head pretty happy. New Beer Blog Uinta Brewery Crooked Line Sea Legs Baltic Porter

In this beer blog, we are going to get into a seasonal from the Unita Brewery’s Crooked Line. The beer is called Sea Legs Baltic Porter. If you read my earlier beer blog on their beer, you know the history of this brewery. If you have not, please, read the first part of that beer blog. Let us get into the beer.

This seasonal in the Crooked Line has a jet black color with a tan color head on this Baltic porter. The smell is of oak chocolate wood. The taste is a complex chocolate to vanilla with a roasted with a dry chocolate aftertaste to the beer. It is a pretty drinkable beer.

In closing, I have been wanting to try this porter. This beer is just flat-out amazing. I was stun by all the flavors that is put into this beer. It is full body with complex notes but yet it is very smooth and silky. This beer is out for very limited time and if you are a fan of porter, you need to try this beer. New Beer Blog Big Horn Ram Tap Party Wheeling Snow Blower

In this Tap Party Beer Blog, we are going to sample out another beer from Ram Wheeling Tap Party. This is a beer style I did not know was being made. I was very interested in trying this beer. If you read my earlier beer blogs from this brewery, you are up to speed on this brewery. If you have not, please, read the first part of that beer blog. Let us get into the party.

Snow Blower is a wheat wine from the Wheeling location. It has a cloudy cooper color with a semi white head on the beer. There is no smell to the beer or I cannot pick it up. The taste is a little wheaty with a sweet malty that will burn down your throat for the aftertaste in a good way. There is a nice malt backbone. It is kind of drinkable but at 8.3% ABV.

Stylistically it is a Wheat Wine, which is a wheat based version of a barley wine. When tasting this beer the hops come forward right out of the gate with a big hop character and provide a big hop punch, but as it lingers on the palate the slight sweetness from the wheat malt comes through and a slight bit of alcoholic warmth teases the palate.

At 8.2% alcohol by volume and 70+ IBU’s it will warm you and your palate up.

American cheese, pickle chips, lettuce, tomato, onion, ketchup, mustard and mayo. Served with choice of Fries, Chips or Coleslaw

In closing, I really enjoyed going to these Tap Parties. I wish I can make the next one but I have at work training. I was very curious on how this beer will taste. As many of you know, I am not a fan of wheat or wheat base beers. This beer is extremely joyful to drink. The wheat is there but there is a nice hop touch to Snowblower. I love the contrast between wheat, sweetness of the normal barely wine, and hop. It is a drinkable beer but be careful because of the ABV is pretty high. This beer is the Lawnmower beer of the winter. I recommend this beer. I want to thanks to Eric and Lanny! Go get some! Drink it! Enjoy it! Metal it! \m/

New Beer Blog Big Horn Ram Tap Party Wheeling

In this tap party blog, we are going to sample out another beer release from the Big Horn Brewery in Wheeling. The beer is called Rabbit Punch Irish Red Ale. If you read my earlier blog on their beers, you know the history of this brewery. If you have not, please, read that beer blog. Let us get into the beer.

This beer has a deep reddish-brown color with a white constant head on it. The smell is a sweet caramel to the beer. The taste of the Rabbit Punch Irish Red Ale is a sweet carbonation caramel to a touch of toffee with a caramel aftertaste. It is a sessional beer.

A reddish-amber ale with roots in Ireland characterized by its malt profile including caramel and a toffee-like sweetness. Alcohol by volume is about 5.15%.

Bourbon BBQ Meatloaf Sandwich

Meatloaf grilled over high heat, smothered with bourbon bbq glaze on toasted white bread with Wisconsin double cream Havarti and onion crisps. Served with choice of Fries, Chips, or Coleslaw.

In closing, I am not a red ale fan but this beer is not bad. I did enjoy this beer and I will have a few pints when it is around. The food was really good. I am not a meatloaf fan but this was pretty good. If you are a fan of red ales, you need to try this beer. I believe you will enjoy drinking this beer and it does have a flare of the Irish Red Ale feel. Most craft breweries normally miss that part of this beer style. I also like the fact it is ale this year and not a lager. It has a nice malty backbone and not overly hopped like most red ales. These brewers did a great job and you need to support them. New Beer Blog To Ol Brewery Launch Party In Chicago

In this beer blog, we are going to get into a beer launch in Chicago. The brewery is To Ol Brewery from Denmark. To Ol Brewery was founded in 2005 by Tobias Emil Jensen and Tore Gynther. They are traveling rogue brewers. Where they think their beer styles will be brew best that is where they will go to. They brew in Europe and United States. This is what makes this brewery unique and their beer is pretty much one and done, which makes their beer pretty special. Let us get into the beers.

Goliat Coffee Stout

This stout has a black color with a tan head on the beer. The smell is a strong coffee and chocolate to the beer. The taste is a strong chocolate to toffee with a heavy aftertaste. This is a sipping beer.

Goliat Coffee Imperial Stout

The great warrior of Gath. The mighty champion of the Philistines. Embedded in ancient folklore and religion. Coming from the World of Old. His size and stature is not human. He is bigger. San Frontiere

This Belgian Blonde has a golden clear color with a white head on the beer. There is really no smell to the beer. The taste is a carbonation sweet with a tart and barnyard aftertaste. It is pretty drinkable beer.

Sans Frontiere Belgian Ale

“Heaven knows no frontiers, and I’ve seen heaven in your eyes”

This is how the Frontier beer series lost their ground, missed direction and finally found themselves again. This beer has no frontiers, meaning that it can now pick and choose among brewing specialties. Instead of being an IPA, this is a rather a Belgian ale, hopped and dryhopped with continental european hops and refermented with brettanomyces. A tart, picturesque and rural beer.

Ingredients: Water, barley malt, hops, Rock Candy, yeast and brettanomyces. 7% ABV / Net content 750 ml (25.4 FL OZ)

Final Frontier

This double IPA has a light copper color with a white head on it. The smell is a citrus to the beer. The taste is a strong citrus and carbonation with a dry hop to mango aftertaste. It is pretty drinkable beer.

Black Ball

This porter has dark brown to black color with a tan head on the beer. The smell is a chocolate to roasted coffee to the porter. The taste is a carbonation sweet chocolate with a burn roasted to the beer. The aftertaste is a roasted citrus to the beer. It is kind of drinkable beer.

Black Ball Porter

Black Ball is a potent porter, boasted with dark cassonade sugar and a good heap of American hops to rebalance the edgy and full-flavoured malt profile. Black IPA? No way! Hoppy Porters is here to stay!

For a perfect evening, Black Ball blends perfect with a Black Rocket from the Pivovar Matuška brewery and Mikkeller Black Hole (Royalties to Theis!)

Mine Is Bigger Than Yours

This ale has a light clear copper color without a head on the beer. There is a slight to fate sweet malty smell to the beer. The taste is a sweet with a strong wine to the beer. The aftertaste is sweet raisin to it. The aftertaste is like a whiskey burning down your throat but calm. It is a sipping beer.

Mine is bigger than yours Barley Wine

“When you have to kill a man, it costs nothing to be polite”

This beer is a big fat beast packed with every potent ingredient we had at the brewery. This tons of malts and hops combined in one big fat, yet balanced brew.

It jumps higher than yours, it builds houses bigger than yours, It’s mama is fatter than yours, it chops wood faster than yours, it’s father is could beat yours…. No reason to say, but Mine is bigger than yours!

Ingredients: Water, barley malt, flaked oats, light candy sugar, hops (Columbus, Simcoe, Citra) and yeast.

12.5% ABV / Net content 375 ml (12.7 FL OZ)

In closing, I enjoy all of these beers. As a rule, I like to age my Barley Wines at least a year before trying them. I believe this Barley Wine is ready now, which is pretty rare. I am not saying Barley Wines are not ready now. Some barley wines are just too young coming out to the market and they are better when they age in the bottle. The porter is like any other porter but it is pretty good beer. I really enjoyed the stout and I believe it is best beer of all these beers. Their Double IPA is really smooth and drinkable. It is not over the top hoppy like most Double IPA. I recommend you trying these beers. I believe you will like at least a few of them. Go get some! Drink it! Enjoy it! Metal it! \m/

New Beer Blog Deschutes Brewery Mirror Pond Pale Ale

It has a clear copper color with a white head on the beer. The smell is a malty citrus to it. The taste is a carbonation earthly with a dry citrus aftertaste to the beer.

Closing, this is not my favorite beer from this beer company. I am really not a fan of this beer. I pick it up because every time I go west and have this beer. There is better Pale Ales in our market here in Chicago. Just because I do not like it does not mean you will not like this beer. Please go try this beer and let me know what you think. I am serious.
