New Beer Blog Free State Beer Oatmeal Stout

In this beer blog, we are going to get into a beer, which is Oatmeal Stout, from Free State Beer.  Free State Beer started in 1989.  This brewery was the first legal brewery in Kansas in over 100 years.  Let us get into this oatmeal stout.

It has pitch black color with an off white color constant head. The aroma has a chocolate to coffee notes. The taste has a chocolate to coffee notes with roast to burn malt aftertaste. It is pretty drinkable beer for type of style.

Here is a description from their website (www.freestatebrewing.com):

If you ask us, there’s no better way to start your day than with a nice, hot bowl of oatmeal. Not only does it have everything you need to power through the day, but it’s also delicious and filling in a way that no other breakfast food can match.

And while we don’t recommend trying it before noon, the same can be said for our Oatmeal Stout. This rich, tasty brew goes down smoothly, and on a chilly evening in the Free State, it simply can’t be beat.

AVAILABLE: Year round

Closing, I never heard of this brewery until it came in my Beer of the Month.  I have to say I am fan of their beers.  I am a huge porter and stout fan.  I was pretty happy to see this beer in my pack.  It is a great beer. It is hard to mess up stout and a porter. I has a nice balance and drinkable to it.  It is heavy but like other stouts.  I highly recommend this beer.  Go get some!  Drink it!  Enjoy it!  Metal it!  \m/

Cheers!

Closing, the one thing that I do not understand about this brewery.  The price of their beer is pretty high.  I understand that the brewery has to make money.  I know supplies are not cheap.  However, at the same time, why are their beers are more than the rest of the market’s beers.  I have always asked this question.   They make great beer and I believe they would sell more on that fact.  I believe at a good price and liquid that they would be higher on beer sold by breweries.  I know that they do a great job already and sell a ton of beer yearly. Just like their porter, it is a nice sipping beer.  This beer is in my top five of Oatmeal stouts. I love my stouts.  I love this beer. This is one of their best beers that Rogue Brewery makes.  I highly recommend this beer.  Go get some!  Drink it!  Enjoy it!  Metal it!  \m/

Cheers!
