New Blog Uncommon Brews Siamese Twin Ale

In this blog, we are going to talk about another brew from a small brewery called Uncommon Brews. The name of the beer is called Uncommon Brews Siamese Twin Ale. If you read my earlier blog on their Bacon Brown Ale, you know a little something on this brewery.

This beer pours into the glass as a light brown with a slightly yellow to white head.  After a while the head will be next to nothing.  You will smell the sweetest of a Belgian Dubbel. The taste of the beer is very complex. You will taste a very sweetness at the beginning then turns into a constant taste through out the pallet of lemon. You will taste sweetness of the malts in the aftertaste with the kick of the lemongrass that they brew in the beer.

Here is a description from the can:

There’s a longtreadition in Belgian brewing of using exotic spices to enhance a beer’s flavor.  Although many have been used, coriander is undoubtely the king.  In tribute to this heritage we present to you our Siamese Twin Ale.

It is traditional Belgian-style Double seasonal with coriander and entirely uncommon Thai spices.  At first surprising, the floral notes of lemongrass and sharper bite of kaffir lime blend with the deep malt of this double to produce a dangerously drinkable beer.

Served alongside a fiery curry or enjoyed on its own, the Twin brings a taste of the tropics to every occasion.  And who doesn’t need a taste of the tropics every now and then?

Here is their website and twitter address:

In closing, this is a really good beer until the lemongrass kicks in the beer. I love their Bacon Brown Ale. I respect this brewery to think outside the box and have the coverage to put this beer out in the market. I love when craft breweries do something different then the same thing that other breweries did in the past. Believe me, we have enough those beers in the market. I would love to hear your thoughts on this brewery and beer. Drink it! Enjoy it! Metal it! \m/

Cheers!

New Blog Uinta Hyve Honey Ale

Uinta Brewery has been brewing beers from Salt Lake City, Utah since 1993.  They brew a wide range of different beers, however, in this blog, we are going to dig into their Organic Line and try their Spring Seasonal, which is Hyve Honey Ale.  Before we get into the beer let us see what the brewery says what this beer is.  This came directly from their website, which is www.uintabrewery.com.

Description

This medium-bodied golden ale is brewed with local wildflower honey.

Tasting Notes

Full-flavored beer. Rich. Robust. Bittersweet beginning. Quickly mellows, leaving the palate with a subtle hint of honey. Hive pairs well with cedar-plank salmon, and, if you have a sweet tooth, baklava.

This beer pours as a golden honey color with bit of or no head. There is no smell to a small bit of honey hints. There is no taste or honey taste. There is a nice smooth honey finish for the aftertaste.  To be honest, I can’t taste any honey.  There is no sweet or any action going on my pallet.  To me, this is a very light body beer and I know this beer is a perfect for drinking all day on a hot spring or summer day.

Here is how you can get more information on this brewery:

In the end, I am not a fan of this beer but there is a market for it.  There will be others out there that will fall in love this beer.  In the last few years, there has been a huge growth of organic beers hitting the market and Uinta has been winning awards for their beers.  Hyve won 2011 Silver Medal at World Beer Championships. Please do not take my review to heart, you, the drinker, need to get out there and try this beer that also goes for all my blogs about anything.  I am not the holy word in the beer, metal, and sports word.  I am just an idiot that has a thought on everything in the world behind a computer.  Go find this beer and let me know what you think.  Enjoy it! Drink it! Metal it! \m/

Cheers!

Uncommon Brewery Bacon Brown Ale

This brewery is from Santa Cruz, CA. They pack all their beers in 16oz cans four packs. All of their beers are organic. It is hard to be an organic brewery because all of your suppliers need to be organic and approved by the government. This brewery tries to make different and unique for the craft beer drinkers in the world.  I love this statement from their website.  It is right up on their opening page (www.uncommonbrewers.com)

Our beers are unfiltered, unpasteurized, and undoubtedly uncommon.  They’re designed to grow over time as they age.  Store in a cool place and witness the change.

I haven’t done this with any of their beers, however I have aged other beers. Anyways Uncommon Brewers brew the following beers.

Golden State Ale

Siamese Twin

Baltic Porter

The one we will be talking about in this blog is the Bacon Brown Ale.  What makes this beer very different than anything else out in the market, it is brew with pork products. This beer pours brown and has heavy carbonation.  I would pour this beer very slowly into a glass.  The smell of the beer is pork and malts. When drinking this beer, you will experience bacon taste throughout the whole beer tasting experience. You will not get too much pork taste at first however, the deeper you get into the beer the more you will taste the pork. The bacon will build up on your pallet. Being a small brewery, I am not saying this is a bad thing but each can is different.  I would say try this beer a few times before say you do not like this beer.

Here is a few ways to get know and information from this brewery:

Website: www.uncommonbrewers.com

Twitter: @uncommonbrewers (I am not sure if this is them and it is not active.)

In the end, a few things to remember when drinking this beer is drink it alone and let it build up on a pallet.   WARN, if you are on a meatless diet, can’t eat meat, or choices not eat meat, DO NOT drink this beer.  I really love this beer and I can’t wait to get a newer batch to see if it is different then this batch.  Drink it! Enjoy it! Metal it! \m/

Cheers!
