image

In this special beer blog, we are going to get into a brew from Lagunitas that was brewed back in 1995.  It is called Equinox Pale Oat Ale.  If you read my earlier beer blog posts on their beers, you know the history of this craft brewery.  If you have not, please, read them to get to this West Coast Craft Brewery.  Let us get into this Pale Ale.

It has a clear golden color with overly constant white head. The carbonation is through the roof. The smell has a citrus notes. The taste has a bready to earthy notes with citrus notes. The aftertaste has a dry biscuits finish. It is extremely drinkable.

Here is a description from their website (www.lagunitas.com):

Equinox Pale Oat Ale |Lagunitas Brewing Company

A creamy, pale oat ale hopped up with a huge charge of Equinox and Simcoe hops for a piney, eucalyptus, cedar, sprucey, forest blast. First brewed in 1995… brewed today in a time of change.

In the end, I am a huge fan of this west coast craft brewery.  I am always looking for something new to come out from Lagunitas Brewery.  I like it. I don’t love it. It is different. I know people back then did not get it. I believe the Midwest craft beer drinker in general still do not get it.  Chicago might be a different than the rest.  I have a hard time finding their beers but it has been getting easier after a year moving back to Michigan.  I recommend this beer.  Go get some!  Drink it!  Enjoy it!  Metal it!  \m/

Cheers!

Closing, I have always been a pretty big fan of this craft brewery.  I just feel their beers are little overpriced for the Midwest area of the United States.  I love this beer. I love the tropical fruit and pineapple notes. This is a great beer. I love the hops that they picked in this beer.  I hope they do a full body IPA with the same hops.  This is a great lawn work beer along with their Dale’s Pale Ale.  I highly recommend this beer.  Go get some!  Drink it!  Enjoy it!  Metal it!  \m/

Cheers!

New Beer Blog Shiner Haymaker Extra Pale Ale

image

In this beer blog, we are going to get into the new pale ale from Shiner Brewery.  It is called Haymaker Extra Pale Ale.  If you read my earlier beer blog posts on their beers, you know the history of this Texas Craft Brewery.  If you have not, please, read them to get to know Shiner Brewery.   Let us get into this pale ale.

It has a clear golden color with semi on white head. There is not any aroma to this ale. The taste has a light earthly to slight citrus notes. The aftertaste has a slight hop bitterest that is not overly powerful.  It is pretty drinkable beer.

Here is a description from the beer bottle:

This small batch brew is the sixth in our Limited Edition Brewer’s Pride Craft Brew Series.  Our light-bodied extra pale ale has a golden color, smooth malty flavor and clean finish.  Cascade hops balance it out to create a truly refreshing session beer for those who know there’s nothing better at the end of a long day of making hay.  Prosit!

In the end, I was pretty upset that I had to buy the sampler pack.  I am not a fan of all the Shiner’s beers.  There is some that I can do without.  It was worth it to try this beer and get more of this great brand.  This beer has a nice balance and some nice hop tasting notes.  I love this pale ale. I believe Shiner Brewery is starting to find themselves in the Ale world.  I believe all other craft breweries will need to watch out.  They make some nice and good lagers.  I just wish that this beer was in 6 or 12 pack bottles in my market.  This is a great beer and I highly recommend this beer.  Go get some!  Drink it!  Enjoy it!  Metal it!  \m/

Cheers!

New Beer Blog Cigar City Invasion Pale Ale

image

In this beer blog, we are going to get into another brew from Cigar City Brewery.  It is their Invasion Pale Ale.  If you read my earlier beer blog posts on their beers, you know the history of Cigar City Brewery.  If you have not, please, read them to get to know this Florida craft brewery.  Let us get into this pale ale.

It has a clear golden color without a head on this pale ale. The aroma has heavy citrus notes like a west coast pale ale. The taste has a citrus to slight lemon notes. There is a nice west coast hop bitterest that hangs along throughout the tasting experience and aftertaste. It is pretty drinkable beer.

Here is their description from their website (www.cigarcitybrewing.com):

Invasion® | Cigar City Brewing

The people of Tampa Bay have fallen prey to Pirate invasion every year for well over 100 years. After more than a century of failing to repel these seafaring raiders in their anachronistic wooden ships, despite access to modern sea, land and air arsenals that ostensibly should make short work of wind powered vessels equipped with naught but cast iron cannons and raging scurvy, it occurred to the folks of Cigar City Brewing that if you can’t beat them start saying Arrrr Matey! And so we have brewed Invasion Pale Ale, a citrusy and tropical session beer brewed for those long days of marauding, pillaging and pirating. Cheers!

Closing, I have been wanting to try this beer for a long time.  I was happy to see this in my case when my friend Mike brought it back from Florida.  Thanks again for bring this back.  It is a perfect beer for the Florida area.  There are times when beers do not work in other areas.  For example, beers in the Northeast part of the United States sometimes do not go over well in Hawaii.  Craft Breweries brew beers for their areas.  This beer and brewery has it right and their beers went over here in Michigan.  I like it. It is a special beer since I cannot get it. It is not Sierra Nevada Pale Ale but still good.  If they hit the market here in Michigan, this beer will be more in cost than Sierra Nevada Pale Ale.  I hate to say it but I will go with Sierra Nevada.  It is almost the same beer.  I could be wrong.  Overall, this is a great beer.  I highly recommend this beer.  Go get some!  Drink it!  Enjoy it!  Metal it!  \m/

Cheers!
