New Beer Blog Bells Pale Ale

While in Michigan, we are going to sample out a local beer from Bells Brewery Pale Ale.  Thank you to my sister for picking up a six-pack while I was in town.  If you read my earlier blog on their Two Heart, you know a little something on this brewery.  If you have not, please, go and read the first part of that post.  Let us get into beer.

Bells Pale Ale is a yellow color without a head on the beer. It has a slight citrus smell to the beer. The taste is a sweet carbonation grapefruit with a dry bitter aftertaste.  It is pretty drinkable.

Here is a description from their website (www.bellsbeer.com):

Pale Ale stands apart from the model of completely hop-dominated pale ales, offering a noticeable degree of malt body to counter the hop bitterness. A blend of floral & herbal hop notes provide the aromatic & flavor highlights, alongside the distinctive contribution of our house ale yeast. A crisp bitterness finishes the experience without being harsh.

Closing, I know this brewery pretty well and had several of their beers.  I went back home to see friends and family and check out a few breweries in Michigan.  This beer has the nice English style to this Pale Ale.  It is a little bit more hoppier than the normal English Pale Ale.  It has a nice flavor and pretty good balance for a beer.  I really enjoy drinking this beer but it is not one of my favorite beers.  I believe that this  brewery makes some better beers.  They are always finding new beers to brew.  Go get some!  Drink it!  Enjoy it!  Metal it!  \m/

Cheers!

New Blog Redhook Brewery Copperhook

In this beer blog, we are going to dig into another beer, which is Cooperhook from Redhook Brewery.  If you read my earlier blog on their Longhammer India Pale Ale, you are pretty much up to speed on the history of this brewery.  Let us get into this beer.

Redhook Brewery Copper Hook has a nice copper color with no head for their spring seasonal.  It has a nice malty smell in the beer. It has a nice sweet malty taste. It remains me of s’mores growing up around a camp fire in Michigan camp grounds.  This beer is perfect for spring because of how drinkablity.

Here is a description from their website (www.redhook.com):

Who needs precious metals, when you’ve got Copper?!   This copper-colored ale is a real crowd-pleaser.  Copperhook strikes the perfect balance of smooth, rich, malty flavor you’d expect from a craft brew with a lighter body and hop profile that makes it a perfect “session” beer when you’ve got a long day ahead of knocking back a few with your buddies.

In closing, just what I said in other blogs on this brewery’s beers, I truly love the drinkable aspect of their beers.  It has been a long time since I had a Redhook Copperhook.  I will say this beer did not disappoint me, however, Untappd is calling this beer a Red Ale or Amber Ale.  I really do not pay that description of this beer. If this is the case, I believe I just found myself my first Red or Amber Ale that I really enjoy drinking.  They call it on their website a Copper Ale.  I do not believe there is a beer style call that but it does decide it.  I am disappointed that I cannot find this beer in six-pack form just like their pilsner.  I will be picking up more their sampler packs.  Go get some!  Drink it! Enjoy it!  Metal it!  \m/

Cheers!

New Blog Bell’s Brewery Two Hearted Ale

In this blog, we are going to sample out one of an India Pale Ale from one of many craft breweries from Michigan. Bell’s Brewery is the most well known one from Michigan. Bell’s Brewery was founded in 1983 by Larry Bell in Kalamazoo, Michigan. This brewery is brewing several different styles of beer.  They are not just well known in Michigan but around the Midwest.   Let us get into this beer right now.

The beer in the glass is darker yellow in color. The smell of Two Hearted Ale is a strong citrus to piney to it. The first thing the beer drinker will experience from this beer is the rush of the carbonation and then heavy citrus taste. This is a very well balance beer and has a quick crisp aftertaste along with citrus punch to this India Pale Ale.

Here is a description from the bottle:

An India Pale Ale style well suited for adventurous trips to the Upper Peninsula. American malts and enormous hop additions give this beer a crisp finish and an incredibly floral hop aroma.

In closing, I would not say this is not my favorite but I would not say I highly dislike the beer. It is very drinkable and has a ton of favor going on in it. I would not drink it on a regular basis because of the high price point on a six pack bottles. I honestly do not think it is worth the price. There is a little value but not much. With all that said, I am not saying this beer is bad. I just feel I could drink another beer in the same beer style and get the same thing while saving money in the process. I recommend you, the craft beer drinker, to try it or retry if it has been a long time. Go get some! Drink it! Enjoy it! Metal it! \m/

Cheers!
