New Beer Blog Weyerbacher Quad Ale

image

In this special beer blog, we are going to sample another beer from Weyerbacher Brewery.  It is their Quad Ale which is a special release.  If you read my earlier beer blog posts on their beers, you know the history of this craft brewery.  If you have not, please, read them to get to know this brewery.  Let us get into this beer.

It has a clear amber with a light behind it.  Without the light, it has a dark cherry color. There is no head on this beer. The aroma has a wine to cherry like notes. The taste has a cherry wine to malty notes with cherry wine alcohol aftertaste. It is a sipping beer.

Here is a description from their website (www.weyerbacher.wpengine.com):

Big and delicious, QUAD, 11.8% ABV, is an elegant dark ale. Rich with complexity and flavor, try savoring it with a fine dinner. You also might enjoy it as an aperitif or as an accompaniment to a dessert, but QUAD stands alone quite well.

Ending, this beer style from Belgium has to be one of my favorite.  I enjoy nice dark cherry notes this beer style gives us.  Every time, I see a new quad hit the market.  I go out and search for it.  This beer is no different.  It is different than other quads that I had in my lifetime.  I highly recommend this beer.  Go get some!  Drink it!  Enjoy it!  Metal it!  \m/

Cheers!

image

In this beer blog, we are getting into another beer from 21st Amendment Brewery.  It is their Toaster Pastry India Red Ale.  If you read my earlier beer blog posts on their beers, you know the history of this West Coast craft brewery.  If you have not, please, read them to get to know this California base craft brewery.  Let us get into this red IPA.

It has a clear red color with a white constant head. The aroma has a citrus with hints of nutty notes. The taste has a sweet malty to biscuit notes with a strawberry jam aftertaste. It is a sipping beer.

Here is a description from their website (www.21st-amendment.com):

Our first beer out of our new brewery is an homage to its former life as a toaster pastry factory.

Biscuit malts give the beer a slightly nutty, crust-like flavor, while pale and dark Crystal malts create the mouthfeel and flavors reminiscent of strawberry jam. Calypso and other experimental hops give this ruby ale a welcome bite, plus a few more in the hop back for a toasty-sweet aroma.

In the end, I always love picking up new beers from this brewery. It does not matter what the craft brewery puts out.  My last trip to Ohio, I was happy to see this beer on their shelves at Joseph Beverage Center.  There is a nice balance on this beer.  I like it. I do not think this brewery puts out a bad beer.  I highly recommend this beer.  Go get some!  Drink it!  Enjoy it!  Metal it!  \m/

Cheers!

Closing, I love pale ales and trying new beers from breweries that I do not know about.  It is worth the time and money checking out new beers from new breweries for you.  You never know it might be your next favorite beer to add to your line up.  I am not a fan but I am willing to try it again.   Go get some!  Drink it!  Enjoy it!  Metal it!  \m/
