New Beer Blog Magic Hat Single Chair Golden Ale (2015)

image

In this beer blog, we are going to get into the new spring seasonal from Magic Hat Brewery.  It is called Single Chair Golden Ale.  Magic Hat is switching it up and pushing the craft beer drinkers.  If you read my earlier beer blog posts on their beers, you know about this east coast craft brewery.   If you have not, please, read them to get to know about this craft brewery.  Let us get into this golden ale.

It has a clear golden color without a head on this ale. The aroma has a sweet malty and slight floral notes. The taste of this light body ale has a refreshing light sweet malty with a dry crisp aftertaste. It is a pretty drinkable beer.

Here is a description from the beer bottle:

The ancient ritual of brewing a distinctly rich and flavorful beer is a performance to behold. Our mysterious mèlange of time-honored ingredients harmonize with chaotic chemistry, humble patience, and blind faith to share in the rousing company of kindred spirits.  Cheers!

Here is a description from their website (www.magichat.net):

Single Chair

Celebrating the Independent Spirit of Mad River

Single Chair Ale takes its name from a truly unique piece of American history: the Single Chair lift at Mad River, one of only two in the country. We share a similar vision with this mountain: To be part of a community, and to be as dedicated to the enjoyment of brewing as Mad River is to the sport of skiing. As winter’s cover melts to reveal spring’s hidden life, take a ride to the top on the Single Chair and celebrate your independent spirit.

Closing, I am not a huge golden ale fan but this is a great product. I can see huge part of the craft beer world enjoying this brew.  It is not for me.  They put some thought in this brew.  They kept it simple and to the point.  It is extremely drinkable beer.  This is a perfect beer to going skiing with or just start spring cleaning in and outside the house.  I believe this could have been a good summer seasonal. There is some nice flavors but keeping it true to the classic beer style.  I love the story behind the name of the beer.  The last ski resort that has a single chair on the mountain side in their state.  I highly highly recommend this beer.  I believe this beer will have people retry Magic Hat’s beers.  Go get some!  Drink it!  Enjoy it!  Metal it!  \m/

Cheers!

New Beer Blog Magic Hat Hocus Pocus

image

In this beer blog, we are going to get into another beer, which is Hocus Pocus, from Magic Hat Brewery.  If you read my earlier beer blog posts, you know the history of Magic Hat Brewery.  If you have not, please, read those beer blog posts to get to know this craft brewery.  Let us get into Summer Wheat Ale.

It has a light to normal copper color with a semi white constant head.  The aroma has a citrus notes but it is pretty fated.  The taste has a light carbonation to smooth lemon notes.  The aftertaste has a hoppy dry finish.  It is a nice refreshing drinkable brew.

Here is a description from the beer bottle:

The ancient ritual of brewing a distinctly rich and flavorful beer is a performance to behold.  Our mysterious melange of time-honored ingredients harmonize with chaotic chemistry, humble patience, and blind faith to create unique beers to share in the rousing company of kindred spirits.  Cheers!

Here is a description from their website (www.magichat.net):

A light, crisp ale with a malty sweetness and delightfully tart finish.

A toast to weeds, rays and summer haze. Hocus Pocus is a light, crisp ale for mowing lawns, hitting lazy fly balls and communing with nature. It is offered up as a summer sacrifice to cloudless days. Its malty sweetness finishes tart and crisp and is best appreciated with a wedge of orange.

In the end, this is a nice summer drinkable but yet refreshing beer.  It is a nice relaxing beer to put down while doing the summer things like lawn work or pick me up baseball game.  It has some nice wheat ale notes but yet light in body to keep you drinking it through out the day.  There is some nice sweet malty notes but a nice fruit to tart finish.  It is drinkable.  I am not a huge fan of wheat ales but it is still pretty average brew.  I recommend it if you like mass-produced or wheat beers.  Go get some!  Drink it!  Enjoy it!  Metal it!  \m/

Cheers!

New Beer Blog Magic Hat Elder Betty Weiss

image

In this beer blog, we are going to sample Magic Hat Elder Betty Weiss.  If you read my earlier beer blog posts, you know the history of this craft brewery.  If you have not, please, read them to get to know this craft brewery.  Let us get into this Weiss.

It has a slightly cloudy golden color with a constant white head.  The smell has berry like notes.  The taste has blueberry to blackberry notes with a fruity aftertaste finish.  It is a refreshing drinkable beer.

Here is a description from the beer bottle:

The ancient ritual of brewing a distinctly rich and flavorful beer is a performance to behold.  Our mysterious melange of time-honored ingredients harmonize with chaotic chemistry, humble patience, and blind faith to create this unique beer to share in the rousing company of kindred spirits.  Cheers!

Here is a description from their website (www.magichat.net):

The wisdom of ages hangs sweet and free from the branches of Elder Betty’s elderberry tree. She is the matriarch of the summer sun and the spirit in our bare dancing feet. Listen for her on warm waves and winds, as the joy of a thousand lifetimes flows from the earth through her branches, and drink her offering with ecstatic abandon.

A Weiss-style ale with bready malt flavor balanced by a touch of hops and complemented by the tart berry flavors of elderberry.

Closing, I have been wanting to this beer for a long time.  I keep missing it because it is a seasonal ale.  I am a huge fan of their Dram Machine and #9 and I know the brewery knows this fact.  I picked up the sampler pack because I wanted some #9 and Dream Machine for the weekend.  It came with this beer, which is Elder Betty Weiss, and Hocus Pocus Wheat Ale.  The berry that is used in this Weiss ale is something between a Blueberry and Blackberry.  It is pretty different but it gives this beer a nice fruit notes.  I like that.  I am not a Weiss fan but I like fruit beers.  I do like the fact that the Weiss base part of the beer has a nice refreshing notes to it.  This is a great beer and I recommend it.  I will search out this beer once in a blue moon.  Go get some!  Drink it!  Enjoy it!  Metal it!  \m/

Cheers!

New Blog Magic Hat Company Blind Faith IPA

Magic Hat Company Blind Faith IPA is going to be featured in this blog.  Magic Hat Company was founded in 1994 in Burlington, Vermont.  Magic Hat brought Pyramid Brewery in 2008 and later in 2010, they were brought out by North American Breweries from Rochester, New York.  Let us get into the beer.

Magic Hat Blind Faith is their India Pale Ale seasonal.  It is available in six-pack bottles and part of their sampler pack.  It is a slightly cloudy copper color with a white head at first.  It goes away after a while. There is really no smell to the beer.  The taste is a grassy to earthly hop taste to it and has a dry mango aftertaste.

Here is a description from the beer bottle:

Magic Hat is presenting our year long “Tour of IPAs!”  Please join us in welcoming to the stage our revolving roster of FOUR features, specially formulated to entertain the palates of hop lovers worldwide.  Smell the hops, taste the hops, love the hops…. and stay “On Tour” with our quarterly cabaret of IPAs.

In the end, I have to be honest which I am through these blogs.  It has got me in trouble at times.  I am not a huge fan of this brewery.  However, of late this brewery has been trying to do different things, this India Pale Ale is one of them.  In the craft world now, American Craft Breweries do not know when to stop  making their beers over hop.  It is nice to have a nice English India Pale Ale, which is what this Magic Hat beer.  They are flipping the hops for the turn of the seasonal, which I love to get a different twist on IPA.  I know Samuel Adams did that with their IPA but in a sampler pack which was a few years ago.  Widmer Brothers are doing that to their IPA and I really enjoyed their Fall, Winter, and Spirng IPA in that line.  Magic Hat Blind Faith IPA is coming out of its seasonal so I would go head out and find this beer.  Go get some!  Drink it!  Enjoy it!  Metal it! \m/

Cheers!
