In this beer blog, we are going to sample another brew from Cigar City Brewing. It is their Florida Cracker Belgian Style White Ale. If you read my earlier beer blog posts on their IPA, you know the history of this southern craft brewery. If you have not, please, read them to get to know this Florida craft brewery. Let us get into this white ale.
It has a yellow to a slightly white tone with a white constant head to the beer. The aroma has a yeast to wheat with coriander to lemon notes. The taste has a smooth easy drinking sweet lemon coriander notes with wheat to yeast like refreshing aftertaste. It is a pretty drinkable beer.
Here is a description from their website (www.cigarcitybrewing.com):
TFlorida Cracker® | Cigar City Brewing
The Cracker Cowboys of Florida were colonial-era settlers, often of Scots-Irish descent, who arrived in Florida when Spain traded their territory of La Florida to the English. The term Cracker in Florida usage relates to the whip these “cow hunters” used to herd cattle in Florida’s Palmetto Prairies. Called Quáqueros by the Spanish, these hardy and hard working Cracker Cowboys helped to shape the history of Florida, the nation’s oldest cattle raising state. We brew Florida Cracker White ale with unmalted wheat, orange peel and coriander and then ferment it with a French Saison yeast strain to give it a spicy and dry finish. Perfect for a warm day on the Palmetto Prairie.
