Top Documentaries Review For 2021

In this blog, we are going to get into my top documentaries in 2021.  This is my thoughts. You might agree and/or disagree with it.  Let’s get into it.

Top Documentaries

1.  Behind Sightings – This is by far craziest Documentary that I have ever saw. Horror to true crime fan will enjoy this doc.  Scariest and best documentary, I have ever saw.

2.  Summer of Soul – Music fest that was never brought to light until this year.  Music fest that happened same time as Woodstock. I hope they released all the whole festival.  Great back story telling.

3.  All Madden. – Wow wow and wow. John passes away a few days after this Documentary was released.  I have to say at the end it was like he knew. I have more respect for him. I wish that I would have enjoyed him more growing up.

4.  Nightstalker:  The Hunt For A Serial Killer – A killer that changed the way every police departments operations around the country. This documentary could be 4th or 5th with Hotel Cecil.

5.  Crime Scene:  The Vanishing at the Cecil Hotel – I feel this documentary and Nightstalker are attached in a sense. Every major city in the USA has a hotel like this one.  Detroit has one called the Leland Hotel.  This documentary gives the haunting story of this hotel.

6.  Tina – This documentary details and lays out facts of the strongest woman in rock history. She didn’t hold back. You will have a lot more respect for her.

7. Clown and Candyman – Clown was from Chicago and Candyman was from Texas. Their nicknames came from what they did for a living.  There is a twist and link to these two monsters.

8.   Billy Milligan 24 Faces of a Monster  – Was Billy was faking this or was he really had Multiple personality person?  This documentary gives you inside of this insane sick man. I believe this documentary lands in the right spot.

9.  Brian Wilson Long Promised Road – Beach Boys was a band that was perfect for pop music in the 1950s and 1960s. This doc drives in to mind of genius behind their music with his brothers. Yet the sickest of Brian Wilson and his issues. Music fan you will like this documentary.

10.  Blood Brothers: Malone x Muhammad Ali – The 1960s American has always keep me interested. I was always wondering how these two men came together. This documentary answers all the questions and much more.

11.   Tom Petty Wild Flowers Sessions – I always enjoy music documentary that goes behind the scenes. I don’t care if I like or dislike the artist.  This documentary answers many questions behind this great record.

12.  Raincoat Killer: The Chasing a Predator in Korea – This documentary stuns me between Korea police department operations and philosophy of the killer. It is a wild documentary.

13.   Bob Ross: Happy Accidents, Betrayal & Greed – The guy that was on TV painting when I was growing up. Bob felt anyone can paint. He is kind of right. His story is pretty sad. I will not watch any Bob because what happened to estate after he passed.

14.  More Than Miyagi The Pat Morita Story – I didn’t know half of his career. As kid I always knew him as Karate Kid teacher. It is nice to know his full story. Good documentary and well done

15.  Beatles Get Back – If you know me, I hate the Beatles.  I respect them for what they did for music. I did enjoy this documentary because of the behind the scenes in the studio. To me, this could have been shorter. I believe I ranked this just right

16. Val – I believe Val did what he wanted to do in his career to tell story of acting. I have to say this was a tough watch. This was super sad to see him like this but a good documentary.

17.  9-11 One Day in America – I remember this day like it was yesterday. I have to say this was a tougher watch over Val. This documentary digs down to the second of events that happened in the skies of American that day.

18.  Fake Famous – At the beginning of the year, this documentary was pretty high. I just felt like there were better docs that came out in 2020. This is still good one to watch how influencers are or not famous. It is amazing on how this team did the work.

19.  Son Of Sam Descent Into Darkness – I have to be honest. I am not sure how I feel about this documentary. I am pretty mixed on it.   I just felt reporter went to far. This could be true or not.

20.  Turning Point: 9/11 and the War on Terror – This documentary unlike the other 9-11 documentary. It starts before we went to war in that country and it ends with President Biden pulling the troopers. It is ok and I feel it should be at least in the top 20.

21.   Blood Brothers:  Malcolm X and Muhammad Ali – 1960s American has always perk my interested. I did like this documentary but I thought it was a little long. I still recommend it.

22.  Wework – After watching this documentary, I see a Wework sign. I always say how are they still in business. Watch this and you will see what I mean.

23,  Tiger King 2 – It was the perfect storm for season 1. World was shut down and nothing to do. Do not get me wrong, it was still good but not as good as the ones above and the first season.

24. History of Credit – This documentary was pretty interesting. It is Grandparents documentary style. It is boring but you will learn something.

25.   Camp Confidential: America’s Secret Nazis – It is funny that history class and books in the main stream do not talk about events like this. This might upset you about our government. I did not like cartoon part so that’s why it is 25.

In closing, this is a pretty solid list. I did enjoy most of the documentaries this year. I hope we do not get more Spears etc docs. I start looking at what is coming out for 2022. It looks promising. Until next time, play hard and party on! \m/

Cheers!
